Oz Park Advisory Council Logo

Oz Park Advisory Council

No

This organization serves as the Advisory Council for Oz Park, a beautiful well known park in the Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago.

The park features a playlot for children, baseball fields, a beautiful garden filled with flowers. There are statues of the major Wizard of Oz characters. There are yellow brick roads within the park and lots of dogs are playing.

green and gold would be an option but designs do not necessarily need to be submitted in those colors. Red could be used or blue. Designers should feel flexibility in this regard.

not sure

Options for design elements could include an abstract rainbow to pay homage to the rainbow in the Wizard of Oz. The yellow brick road could be an option. Flowers could be an option, especially red poppies, dogs could be an option. Also, in the children's playlot there are structures with red turrets. Those might make a good design element. Photos of the turrets, playlot and garden are attached.

The logo should be elegant and classy but fun and, perhaps, whimsical.

The logo should not be constrained by a border such as a circle or box.

During this project, I will provided detailed feedback on what I like and what I do not so that we can get to the right solution quicker.

Sorry. I have been referring at several times to a file which I apparently neglected to upload. What I have referred to as the OverOz logo has been uploaded. Sorry for the prior mistake on my part.

#'s 52 & 53 - Design is too tree heavy. Doesn't follow the instructions on font in prior comments. There is no rainbow imagery. Do not like the sky on #53.

I am not sure why but many entrants simply are not following instructions. I try to take the time to be specific in as many areas as I can—only to have my feedback ignored. Someone who is willing to follow design instructions could jump in and win this contest. Design #'s 47-51. Explicit instructions on the font were ignored. Please do not submit more designs unless you follow the instructions re: font. On #51, the poppies don't work as a rainbow. #'s 48-50. I would like to see see rainbows that are less prominent in the design. Design 47 is better but still would like to see more space between rainbow & the rest of the logo. Would like to see the rainbow with not so much curve. As I stated before, I would like to see a version that has a rainbow in the style similar to what is in the Over Oz logo I uploaded. Rainbow can be abstract and does not have to be in rainbow colors. Design #'s 41-45. None of those rainbows work. Too many colors. Too prominent in the design. Do not like the individual colors looking like independent strings. Rainbow does not have to be in rainbow colors. The bottom half of 44 & 45 have potential. I do not like the green font. Please use black. The design elements to the side of Oz Park are night right. The need a bit of separation from the letters. Use something more interesting than a straight line. #39. Poppies alone won't work. #'s 35-38 wrong font. Don't like the green and blue combination. #30 Though I gave your design only 1 star for a variety of reasons, I think your rainbow is interesting. I just uprated you to a 2. I don't like the green and gray combination. Fonts are wrong. The tree looks more like a potted plant. I don't like the wavy nature of the ground. The playground structure looks nothing like the one I uploaded.

First, thanks to all for participating in this contest. Generally speaking designers are are not following the design spec or taking into account the comments I made yesterday: For example, my very first comment yesterday was: "See the font in the Over Oz logo example I uploaded. That is style I like." One additional clarification on font. This logo is for the Oz Park Advisory Council, not OZ Park. So, the type should all be the same size. This is VERY important The design spec did not say anything about children or a skyline. Children can be included but not as a prominent element of the design. For those try to include some representation of the park, please know the park is flat, not hilly. Do not use gray, brown or light blue or in your designs. Don't use light green in the text. Text should not be gradient. As far as the color green goes, the green in #20 is the closest to what would work if green is a color you want to use for text. Many of the designs are too tree oriented. No dark backgrounds PLEASE READ DESIGN SPEC AND COMMENTS BEFORE SUBMITTING DESIGNS Thank you!

General comment on font selection: See the font in the Over Oz logo example I uploaded. That is style I like: #'s 10, 11, 12 & 15. Interesting but colors are too muted. Go brighter, use some green. Also, remove the boundary boxes. #7 while the design is unappealing to me, a general reminder that the design brief said to avoid logos contained within a box or circle. Also try to avoid logos with an aspect ration that loss too horizontal #'s 4, 5, 6 i don't like any of the specific executions but directionally there are some things I like, e.g., the abstract rainbow effect. Don't like the blue in #5. I think the sun effect in #'s 4 & 6 are too prominent. #19 looks too much like a cartoon. It lacks elegance. #18 has possibilities, I think the rainbow is a little guitar too literal and the structures may be a bit too prominent, but directionally, it has some possibilities #1, the rainbow is too literal and don't like the blue fonts. #2, the three dots around the perimeter are distracting #16 - don't like the black background and the design element above the name does not fit the design spec.
