First impressions matter.<\/p>\n
To a business, their logo is the first impression potential customers encounter about their brand\u00a0and companies\u00a0pay\u00a0big to have a great logo to entice customers to buy their product or services. There are a multitude of\u00a0studies out there that have\u00a0shown it’s\u00a0difficult\u00a0to change how you feel about something after the first\u00a0initial impression.<\/p>\n
Designers, this is what brand identity is all about; you’re making an impression, building a company image, and creating a clear message about the brand.<\/p>\n
Let’s do a small exercise. Imagine yourself\u00a0in the shoes of the client’s customers. Think about the last time you went shopping. I’m sure you have passed on shopping in a specific store when you saw their terrible logo all over the product. Or you had a\u00a0situation that\u00a0a store logo was so bland that it didn’t even register an impression\u00a0on you,\u00a0so you couldn’t find it in the shopping center.\u00a0This is exactly what a company doesn’t want!<\/p>\n
You need to ask yourself how do you create something original that stands out and how do you\u00a0create something quickly while retaining the quality of the brand? You want your logo design to fit the company’s brand.<\/p>\n
Designers work long hours\u00a0to conquer\u00a0this aspect of graphic design, and you struggle throughout your\u00a0career building brand identities and logo design. Some designers\u00a0volunteer to\u00a0design for non-profits groups or compete in logo design contests<\/a> to keep their skills sharp, while others stretch their skills and showcase designs in online forums and ask for critiques from professionals. Don’t waste energy on things that won’t push you or build on your skills.
