Creative Brief

Business logo, start-up dental office with young dentist - Smiles By Rosie

Smiles By Rosie

No

This is my first (and probably only) dental practice. I'm a new, young, female dentist, and at least at the beginning, it will just be me, a hygienist, an assistant, and front desk. It's relatively rare to start your own office right out of residency, so I want to open with the right look.

My slogan is "The nonjudgemental dental office" and my ads will read, "No judgement. No lectures. We're just glad you're here."

I will be marketing towards people with dental phobia and general anxiety. I will be marketing to those who have had negative dental experiences, people who feel self-conscious about their mouths, and those who need a lot of work. This will NOT be an aesthetics-only practice where I do veneers for white-collar patients. I am a general dentist, so I'll be offering all procedures, and treat from birth onward. My patients will be a mix of blue- and white-collar, working professionals, and children and special needs adults.

My office will be brightly lit, welcoming, friendly, and very honest. I'm not a "retail dentist" - no new patient special, discounts, or anything to cheapify my image. Just real medicine, real dentistry, and I will actually listen to and educate my patients. Not drill, fill, and bill them.

I personally am a laid-back, blood-and-guts loving science nerd. This will NOT be a stuffy white coat office reeking of professionalism.

Hmm....I still don't seem to be getting the mature, simple professionalism I'm looking for. #107 is currently in first place. Just a note: 1. I'm a general dentist so no braces, please 2. Please no faces or smiles inside the teeth, if you use teeth 3. Read the rest of my comments carefully. Looking for black small caps for the text. Thanks!

I've also updated a lot of the star ratings, now that I've realized I'm really trying to simplify the design and add a bit of professionalism, marketing to both genders.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who has submitted so far! I now am able to offer a clearer description of what I'm looking for. 1. I will be veiling the project when there are 3 days remaining. 2. I would like a single, simple image. Next to it I would like "Smiles By Rosie" in a simple small caps font in BLACK, either serif or sans (haven't decided on that yet). Please do not put my tagline or any other text into the name. 3. Please do not incorporate the image into the name, have varying fonts in the name, or color the letters. 4. Please read the brief carefully. 5. It is important that I attract both male and female patients. THANKS AGAIN!

Also, I think I like the idea of an image next to a simple-font Smiles By Rosie. I find the designs where the images are part of the title a bit busy and less professional. Thanks!

TO EVERYONE: Can anyone think of some more ideas where a bunch of teeth come together to form an image? Or teeth as part of the name? PLEASE JUST HAVE "SMILES BY ROSIE"; tagline or other words will not be included in logo. Thank you all for your attention and creativity!! Looking good so far!

#3, LOVE the font you're using. Can you submit again using lilac, sage gree, or blue? #42, can you make the tooth "M" look more like an M? As it is, it could look like an N or H. Also, can I see it without the rose on the I?

That's a very valid point, and I do appreciate what you're saying. I might be going against the culture with logo contests, but I feel strongly towards the opposite. I hope that designers use my star rating to get an idea of what I'm looking for, and I'd LIKE them to use that for inspiration. If someone thinks of an idea that I like and I just want some small changes, I will tell him or her. Once other artists see what I like and are able to extrapolate on that using their own creativity, I think that breeds healthy competition. I would not award the prize to someone that mimics another's design closely, and I respect artistic integrity. I'd simply ask the original designer to modify. I will absolutely give artistic credit where it is due. But creating images and me evaluating them is the best way to move towards the look I'm going for. This is how it happens in writing and music composition as well. But to each her own!

I received several requests to veil the project. Given, this is my first time with MycroBurst, but I feel that it's important for everyone to see my star ratings so that designers can have an idea of what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the submissions so far! I'll be evaluating each design (in stars) as they come in so you get an idea of what I'm looking for. Two big points: 1. I'm going for elegant, professional, and relaxing, NOT cutesy. 2. Lilac and purple should be the main color, seconded by sage green and blues and yellows after. TheCreative, I love your idea of a rose with tooth roots! Thanks to everyone!!
