Church of the Master

(none)

Yes

Church of the Master is a nearly fifty-year old church located in the southwestern area of the United States. We strive to be a welcoming, open-minded, community-focused organization that seeks to tangibly share the love of Jesus with our community. Comprised largely of older generations (60+), we also have a vibrant minority of younger families within our group as well. Many of our ministries are focused on meeting the needs of our local area; from a food bank that feeds 20-30 families every week to a sewing ministry that provides quilts for new mothers living beneath the poverty line, and a preschool that serves the community, we believe that action is an integral part of our Christian identity.

Our organization is looking for a logo that we can utilize on all our media (website, publications, brochures, t-shirts), signs, vehicles, etc. We’d like to see both color and b&w copies of this logo, as we will be using the logo in both capacities.

In our discussion, we thought about using a blue background for our website, and so that might be a good place to start. We’re not designers, we admit, and so we’re very open to almost any color palette.

not sure

In the past, we have used the abbreviation “COTM” in church publications, advertising, etc. We’d like to move away from that, as it is somewhat alienating to anyone who doesn’t know what “COTM” is an abbreviation for, but are open to those letters being used in the logo, alongside our design text. This is not something we require, just some more information to help guide you in your design process.

We realize that asking you to design a “traditionally-rooted, forward-thinking” logo might be like asking you to turn coal into gold. So if you have to err on the side of either a “traditional” or “contemporary” design, we’d like it to look more “contemporary.”

We're open to using a cross in our design (the obvious choice), but would love to see some alternatives.

They do not mention this in the terms and conditions, but we would prefer an vector image so that we can scale it to as large as we might need.

Final hour, everyone! #114, could we see a black and white version (if you see this?!)

Creative7862011, On #84, could we see it in a maroon color tone? Something dark red-looking? Thanks for taking the leaves off of #78 -- it looks a lot better. We aren't quite sure the circle is a better look, though; could we see a version with the original swoosh in the background, just a little thinner? ---Christopher

cdnmike - #73 was one of the favorites of our meeting, actually. Could we see a few variations in color? Perhaps in a red and gold palette? We really like the way you arranged the words, however.

Typography -- #79 has a nice iconic logo, but we aren't crazy about the way you incorporated "of the" into the wording. We understand the challenge in incorporating it into the logo, and while we appreciate your creativity, is there any other way you could arrange the design text?

Only three days left! Our group finally met and we have quite a few things we'd like to see tweaked by a number of designers. FOR EVERYONE: we had some discussion about the words "Church" and "Master", and our preference is that we want to see "Master" as the larger word in the logo. In general, we preferred the color palette on #70. We're still pretty open to most colors, however. Just an FYI. Below are a few of the items we brought up: Creative7862011 -- #78 really caught our eye. We love the color and the sleek look of this draft. While we understand why you used the leaves in the way you did, we were hoping that you might be able to provide drafts of that both removed the leaves completely and made the "swish" behind it a little thinner AND a version that perhaps used a few more leaves in a rounder, tree-like fashion. Also, if you could make it so that "Master" was the larger word in the logo, we'd appreciate it. Lead29 - #81 is a strong entry, and we'd like to see what it would look like if you extended the cross so that the edges sit just outside of the circle. Caturro - #46 caught our Pastors' eye, and we'd like to see a few more versions of it. Is there a good way for us to see a version that doesn't have the words on the bottom (that we could put on the side of our bus, etc.)? We like the enclosed look of your logo, though.

Lead29 -- We like #41's look, but were hoping that we could find a more unique looking font choice/arrangement for the design text. Also, could we see a variety of color palettes, including something in a traditional red/maroon and some brighter, more contemporary colors?

Creative7862011, Your last three entries (#53-#55) are misspelled. Please change "Chursh" to "Church."

Dezinden, could we mix #23 & #16 a little? Could we take the word/font choice and the color scheme of #23, and combine them with the logo at #16?

JUST A HEADS UP: Our team is meeting on Tuesday (Oct 4) morning to determine our favorites and move on from there. It might be a good idea to have at least a draft up and ready to go by then!

DesignBud, we were impressed with your work on the "New Church Logo" for the Apostolic Assembly of God you did last week. It's got a "seal-like" quality to it without being to stodgy or formal. Maybe that'll help give you an idea of what we're looking for?

#9 - We were really looking for something a little more simple and easily recognizable from a distance. I do like the effort at retaining traditional with contemporary, though.

Dezinden, #7 is really eye-catching. Are all four dots the same size, because it looks like the top two dots are slightly smaller. Could we see it with darker colors -- either darker hues of blue or going a completely different direction with some earth-toned colors?

Wow, thanks cdnmike; thanks for all the great drafts! I'm going to consult with the team, but my personal initial leanings are towards #4 and #5 (of the designs submitted from you so far) -- more than #3, which doesn't seem as iconic. Could we see what a black and white version of #5 would be? Thanks, again. This is incredible.

#1 -- We like the simplicity of the design, but most of our team found that we initially read it to say, "Church of the naster" -- is there any way that you could make that less the case?

The project brief says "2 colors" -- we actually meant "unsure." Hit us with your best shot -- regardless of how many colors are involved.
