Creative Brief

HAWK Network Defense, INC

HAWK Network Defense

No

Our company is a network security startup. We've been in business for about 7 years, and we are very tired of our old logo (can be viewed at www.hawkdefense.com). We are currently designing a new web site in order to showcase our progress in the last several years. Though we are still an early-stage startup, we anticipate high levels of growth for our company within the next 6 months. We're looking for a logo that can attract potential clients by evoking current and future success, a good reputation, and incomparable security. We want our company to be around for a long time. So we'd like to see a logo that can withstand the test of time on our website, in our letterhead, on our business cards, etc.

Black, dark orange (would prefer something similar to html color code #F88017), also maybe even different shades of grey. That being said, if you can think of better colors to work with for this particular project, we promise to keep an open-mind.

not sure

1. We would really like to see an actual hawk (like the bird) incorporated into the logo, most likely as a stand-in for the "W" of "HAWK."
2. Note to designers: HAWK needs to be capitalized (It's an acronym).
3. As mentioned in the previous section, though we have given a lot of specific preferences, we promise to keep an open mind. All of us here at HAWK Network Defense are looking forward to seeing a kick-ass logo that will showcase the positive image our company has built over the last seven years and will hopefully maintain for decades to come.

ALL DESIGNERS: I wanted to thank ALL of you for participating in this project thus far. You have all come up with some very impressive logos and we here at the office look forward to seeing more and more design possibilities. PLEASE NOTE: If anyone plans to use orange in their design, I recommend sticking with the color shades used in #15 and #17. That's more the shade of orange that we're looking for. I apologize if my instructions in the creative brief mislead anyone. If anybody has ANY questions please don't hesitate to message us.

cromox, #15 is VERY impressive. From a distance, the lower text might be kind of difficult to read if the logo were not at full size. I love the creativity of your text and the animation as well is really cool...but I'm not sure if it looks enough like a hawk for my boss to get on board with it. Overall though, your design has the right blend of creativity, edginess, and color we're looking for.

daphnee, I was impressed with #6 when you rolled it out the other day and even more impressed with #11 today. I've decided I'm not a huge fan of that shade of orange (which again is likely my fault--more to come regarding this later)used in either logo. I like the bird and text from #11, but I'm concerned the logo might be a little too tall for what we need. Also maybe the text could use a little more detail to make it look more edgy. thanks for sticking with us so far :)

MuDiNat, thanks for actually putting in a hawk as the "W" and for showing the three different examples. It was extremely helpful to get that perspective. I'm not a huge fan of the shade of orange chosen(which is likely my fault--I will update the brief in a bit) and the bird (though very cool) isn't totally cutting-edge. For some reason, I find the gray-on-black version in #12 to be really cool...even the bird looks better there.

logobirds, I like the bird itself but the logo as is doesn't really match the genre of a tech start-up...it seems more appropriate for an insurance agency...HAWK Insurance Agency perhaps?

vector, #7 and #8 are a little too generic as is. I personally prefer #8 over #7 but I'm not sure why that is, since I'm not a fan of serifs for this project. However, I really like the bird animation that you've incorporated (more so the one from #7) and your creative location within the "A" is pretty cool. I wonder what other locations would work :)

fawwaz, #18 is a really cool design, but I'm not a huge fan of stars/crest/serifs look for our company. That being said, I really like #17 a lot...though the text might be a little difficult to read from a distance. Also, I really like the logo animation you have incorporated here; however my boss is worried that the bird element could be confused with a dove instead of a hawk.
