Logo Design for Niche Job Board

SubstationJobs or SubstationJobs.com

No

The logo is for a job board website where substation jobs will be posted. It will attract professionals from the power industry who will advertise jobs for technical people with substation backgrounds. It will also attract candidates who will submit their resumes to these substation jobs. The logo should be self descriptive. It should be recognizable as relating to the power industry and specifically substations. It is for the transmission & distribution side of the industry, the "wires" side. It should have a graphic as well as words.

Draft #47: Looks good. Can you show the full color version on this draft as well (like draft #44)?

Draft #36: We are getting much closer on the graphic of the transformer. It is getting more like the picture at http://www.vaibhavgroup.com/offerings/transformers/. To be more like that picture, the cylindrical can on top should be set slightly to the left with supports holding it up. Also the back row of bushing on top should be shorter and have 3 bushings and not 2. If you look closely, you will see each of these 3 bushings have little rectangular connector plates with bolt holes. Regarding the font, can you please try one example using a combination of upper and lower case such as "SubstationJobs" with a ".com" beneath the "Jobs"? Thank you!

Draft #34: I think I found the transformer you are attempting to duplicate. It is the Vaibhav Group Power transformer at http://www.vaibhavgroup.com/offerings/transformers/. If so, can you split the coolers in the front, include the box on the side and generally make it look the same?

Draft #29: You are getting much closer on the graphic of a large power transformer. The big can on top looks too large for the transformer. Can you try some of the long bushings? Thanks.

Draft # 18, 19, 20, 21: Thank you for the submittal. These are nice designs. However, I prefer graphics that are more "electrical" and technical in nature. I do like the font you have used for the text in each of the drafts.

Draft #16: This is a great start. Can you include a little more detail in the sketch? Here is the url for a sketch of a big power transformer in 2D...Can you do one in 3d? You have to click on the cover of the book to see it. http://www.amazon.com/Transformer-Design-Principles-Applications-Transformers/dp/9056997033 If you go to page 6, figure 2 of this document, you may see another sketch of a larger power transformer. http://energy.gov/sites/prod/files/Large%20Power%20Transformer%20Study%20-%20June%202012_0.pdf

Draft #12 13, 14: Of these three drafts, I prefer Draft 13. I like the circle used in the graphic. However, the box inside of the circle is not a transformer. Can you replace the box with a transformer?

Draft #11: This is not my preferred draft. I don't think I care for the "S" being replaced by lightning bolts. I'm not sure what the graphic represents. Is this a transmission line? If so, it is not a good logo to represent substations. It would represent transmission and distribution which is a different niche within the electric power market. Also, the industry is standardized on 3 wires or multiples of 3.

Draft #10: I like that you have used a sketch of a large power transformer. It has 4 bushings on the top and I would like to see it with only 3 bushings and also in isometric. Would like to see white background and different font for the text.

Drafts #8 and #9: Similar comments as to Draft #7. Wires in the draft represent a different market niche than substations.

Draft #7: I like the concept. However, the wires on the top of the text represent a different niche in this market. They represent the transmission and distribution side of the business. My logo is only for the substation side of the business which is the component between the wires. I know that is confusing. Your draft #10 is on target for this industry with the pad mounted transformer. I do like the font used for the text in this draft better than the others. I prefer a white background.

Draft 6: Thank you for the design. I am looking for something more industrial and more masculine. Employees in this substation industry tend to be high testosterone males. I think a lightning bolt would symbolize electricity flow as well as a lightning bolt hitting a lightning arrestor at the substation. It would probably be shown as yellow and not red.

Draft 5, thank you for submitting the design. I was hoping for something less simplistic. Perhaps a bolder font. Perhaps a lightning bolt in the design. Perhaps a graphic of a little guy wearing a hardhat and running with a lightening bolt under his arm. Perhaps a graphic of a pad mounted power transformer. Thank you.

Draft 4 and draft 3, I like the lightning bolt and substation graphic. Although for Draft 4, the substation graphic is for a pole mounted transformer. I would like to see something with a pad mounted transformer (big power transformer).

Here is a link that shows images for images of power transformers for substations: https://www.google.com/search?q=images+of+power+transformers&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=VNRVULOWBIbq9ATsi4GoCQ&ved=0CB0QsAQ&biw=1680&bih=829

I would like to see designs with a graphic, along with the name, in the logo. I would like to see graphics that are "electrical" and pertinent to substations such as a transformer.

Attention Designers!! MycroBurst permits you to submit unlimited designs with unlimited variations. However, if you are providing 2 or 3 different color versions of the same logo in one draft, please make sure that if the particular draft gets finalized, each color version should be separated before you will send the final files. Thanks, MB/LDG/LS Team
