One color which is not a primary color (i.e. no pure blue, red, yellow, etc.) and a second color which is neutral (gray, black, silver, taupe, brown, etc.) Colors are not so important as the design however, as the colors can always be changed. More than 2 colors is also OK if you want to try it.

These pages show logos of our competition. These are to give ideas and inspiration, but not to be copied. Next to each I put comments.

www.konnect-pr.com - this is conveys the right balance of creativity professionalism we are trying to achieve. Obviously the abstract mark they are using is specific to the name of their business (Konnect) and would not work for our project.

www.inkprgroup.com - this is also a good balance of professional yet a bit casual/creative. Again here the abstract mark conveys the idea of "ink" and would not work for our logo.

www.amylevypr.com - This design is pretty standard but the font has been customized lending character which we like.

www.prdarling.com.au - This logo is a little more glamorous than we would like but shown as an example of mixing cursive font with sans serif

www.muchandhousepr.com - this design conveys the simplicity we would like but lacks the touch of personality we are seeking.

www.starfish-events.com - this is the logo for another local event marketing firm

NOTE: Winning designer will be asked to supply logo in a sufficient number of separate layers to facilitate changing of colors or "tweaking" of the design at a later time by an outside designer if desired.

There is one day left. Note to any last minute submitters: I prefer clean simple fonts (usually that means sans serif) and also the business name should be easy to read. Keep it clean and simple but do something subtle but unexpected with the font or background coloring. If you are going to do your design in color, please also upload it in black/white/gray so I can see what it looks like w/o color as well. Thanks very much for all the great work.

May 2 9:08 PST Thanks for the new designs. Very good work. I have added some stars. Designs with a subtle sense of style and where the business name is clear and easy to read are the preferred ones.

Sunday 10:00 AM PST I do not have time this morning to look at all the new ones carefully, but I put stars on a few. Please don't remove your designs so I can look at them later. Thanks

#112 - try just one square behind each letter in PR or one square behind both letters in PR. similar to what you did in 107... thanks

#106 -110 I like 106 & 107 the best because they don't have the shading effect. Can you try something like this with "Squires PR" and be selective about where you put the boxes? For example you could try only putting the boxes behind PR and leave the background behind Squires plain.

04/30/2011 10:15 AM PST Overall comments: Please try to stick to simpler fonts, not too heavy. Do a simple design, but add some personality/uniqueness by tweaking the font or doing something interesting with the font colors, etc. Here are comments on the individual desings. I tried to comment on all the new ones. Sorry if I missed some. #101- 103 - your layouts are fine, but would like to see a simpler font. #100 can you try something interesting with the blue line but put it between Squires & PR #99, 98 can you please choose a simpler font? #97, 98 - Can you please choose a lighter weight font as well? #91 I gave 91 stars instead of 92 and 87 because the font is easy to read. I like the font in 92, I just worry it is too thin. I did not care much for the font in 87 or the italics. Is there another font you think this design would work with? Would like to consider and show to some other people. Also, Would you be able to try a Logo Type design that does not use the floating squares? Or maybe just one square behind the font, if you get my idea. #90 - this is good, it is clean and simple but you gave it a little uniqueness with the dot over the i. Your 89 I did not care fore as much because of the curvy lines between Squires and PR. #88 what you did between Squires and PR here is excellent. Not sure if the first S needs to be backwards. #86 not crazy about the font #85 like the font. however I worry that what you did with the Q makes it look like a G? I would like to get some other opinions.... #81 nice idea what you did with the i. Can you try a design which is slightly less casual? #75 -77 Can you try working with a differnent font? #78-80 - these are on ther right track, but would prefer a different shape in the background of PR. #71-73 my favorite of these is 71. The font might be #66 the layout is fine but the font is too strong of a style. #65 would prefer this w/o the shadow effect.

Thanks for the designs. I think I prefer the Logo Type designs and would like to see more ideas that are simple but where there is something subtle in the design to give a bit of personality. Please check these web sites for their logos. You can use "Squires Public Relations" or "Squires PR" according to what works for your design. Thanks! http://www.amylevypr.com Above is a good example of taking a simple design and tweaking the font to give a little personality. http://www.muchandhousepr.com http://miller-pr.com/ http://www.5wpr.com/ http://www.mw-pr.com/ Below are some specific comments: #44 The font is too much of a style but the idea is nice. Much prefer your #36. What's good about 36 is that it is a little casual due to the font in Squires but the font in Public Relations brings it back to looking professional. So I like that. #40-42 These are nice looking but feel a little cold to me. Thanks for trying it though. Something like your #22 could work but the font on #22 I feel is too strong of a style. #48 - 50 I like that this is simple and clean, with a little tweak on the Q to give it some personality. Can you try some other ideas along those lines? #46 this is nice and simple, would like to see it with just one dot over the "i" or some other subtle embellishment. having 3 dots looks like it could be a type-o rather than a design choice. #45 This is good, but can you replace the box with something else? #54 - Vector, this is my favorite of yours right now.

Note: in previous comment, there is a mistake. Instead of #23 I meant #21. Should be: #21-the initial/mark is very nice. wonder if it could be done in two lines instead of 3 by putting the mark on the same line as Squire

Designers, please don't withdraw your designs if I did not give a star. Would like to be able to consider all of them. #36 good choices. professional but casual/creative, not too serious. clear and easy to read. #38 & 34, nice but would prefer a cursive font that is a little easier to read #26 I like the different background shading. Here is an example along those lines that I like, but I don't want to copy it since they are also an L.A. based company. Perhaps you could try some variations? http://miller-pr.com/ #24,25, 27,28 - I gave a star for the layout. Would like to see some different fonts if possible. Professional but not too formal. #22 something like that could work but I would like to see different font and some sort of tweaking to give it a bit of personality. #23 the initial/mark is very nice. wonder if it could be done in two lines instead of 3 by putting the mark on the same line as Squires? #16 that is a nice idea, what you did with the Q. It feels a little rigid to me though. #29, 32 I put stars next to the ones I like best of your submissions. Would like to see some more Logo Type ideas from you. Thanks for joining the project. Thanks everyone. Very good work!

http://www.hunterpr.com/index.html http://www.atomicpr.com/#home Thanks very much for these designs. Here is some feedback. #1. Can you try a font which is more sophisticated/cleaner? #2. The mark is very nice however I am not clear if it is an S or how it relates to the business name. Also, the font is a little "retro" looking, would prefer something more modern or sophisticated but not formal. #3. interesting idea to put the Q in upper case to make it stand out. Almost prefer this design w/o the abstract mark. #4-6: #4 and #5 are better than 6. Nice clean fonts, however Public Relations at the bottom could stand out more. #7-9 Of these I prefer #9. What I like most about #9 is what was done with the name of the company. Would be interested to see variations on this w/o the initials above. General feedback: At the moment all submissions have either an abstract mark or initials. I would also like to see some submissions which are just Logo Type (i.e. no initial or abstract mark). Can be Squires Public Relations or Squires PR, depending on what works for your design. If you do an abstract mark, try to tie it in somehow with the name of the business, or make it a simple embellishment to the name of the business. Thanks :)
