Creative Brief

Modern Logo for a specialist consultancy business

Negotiation Partners

Taking you beyond win-win

No

Negotiation Partners is a small company, but with global ambitions. We work in partnership with our clients to help them achieve key business objectives. We do this by coaching executive teams in contemporary negotiation skills to deliver deals beyond win-win. We also consult to decision makers in business and government to help them prepare for important or particularly challenging negotiations and on occasion, we sit at the table as part of our client's negotiation team.
Out Target Audience are:
- typically large firms, multinationals or those listed in the Top200.
- diverse industries and sectors ranging from banking and finance, resources and mining, pharmaceutical, retail, defence and government departments, including the military.
Our approach is practical and 100% client focused. We want to promote a modern, contemporary approach, yet respectful of traditional values like 'integrity' (one image we were considering was that of interlocking rings or bands - to emphasise the partnership we have with our clients)
We want the logo to reflect the concepts of partnership and trust.
We want the audience to feel that they will get a better deal (profit, time, issues) by using us.
We want to avoid cheesy images like hand shakes and arrows going up charts.
Together with the logo, we'd like you to design matching stationery that we can use for letters but also for A4 information sheets we use (to publish Negotiation Skill Tips, Venue specifications, Terms of Business, etc.). We like the colour palette at http://www.colourlovers.com/palette/1284/, but feel free to experiment and give us other options. We'd also like you to suggest (not design!) matching fonts that would work well with your design.

Happy to receive suggestions. We like the palette at http://www.colourlovers.com/palette/1284/ but others might work equally well.

not sure

Our current business name is Rose & Barton (see www.roseandbarton.com for details about the business and what we do). We are rebranding because we want to portray a more modern image, whilst retaining the gravity and professionalism that is our hallmark. As we have offices in Germany and will be represented in the Middle East shortly, we need a design that works not only in the English-speaking world, but is also appealing and conveys the same key messages in other cultures.

Dear designers, thank you for your first shots at goal. A few observations to guide you: 1. No-one has really tackled the partnership aspect that we'd like to portray in our logo. We'd like a logo that incorporates our name and a visual image that also reflects that name and can become 'iconic' and recognised in its own right. 2. We'd love some designs from you that incorporate our idea of two interlocking rings to signify the partnership aspect in our approach (see creative brief). 3. A lot of your designs feature 'square' or sharp-edged objects. Negotiation is about creativity and flexibility, so 'square' is not really what we are after. Negotiation is NOT about splitting the pie, but about growing it and creating more opportunity for everyone. 4. We tend to prefer clean, narrow fonts to elaborate serif fonts I hope this is helpful and look forward to more great ideas from you all. Matt

Dear designers, thank you for your first quick responses. We're looking for a design that reflects what's important to us - we've spent some time writing the Creative Brief for you - please study it carefully and give us your best ideas. No handshakes or any of the other typical imagery you see with traditional negotiation skills businesses, please. We want to go beyond the obvious in our logo - as we do when we work with clients. We look forward to your great ideas - keep them coming... Any questions, just ask. Matt
