MyGunDB.com Website

Sales site for the MyGunDB Firearm inventory program

The best way to manage your firearm collection

I'm looking for a Wordpress theme to use for my firearm inventory program.

I like wide websites, fluid.

Most of the chunk of text about MGDB is now out of Beta will not be there. The bottom ToDo list will be moved elsewhere.

I don't want to try to look like a huge corporation -- I'm 1 guy who wrote a product people are interested in and that is good for my users to get the feeling of when they visit the site.

I like darker colors but not black -- think more cabin in the woods.

I may need to add more pages, or remove some, so that shouldn't be rigid.

I will not have comments enabled.

Maybe a better way to show my screenshots.

Outdoors

It is a firearm inventory program but I don't want "gun overload" -- my users tend to be late 20's to 70's, conservative males, many of whom hunt and fish -- outdoorsmen that have a firearm collection, and not 16 year old gamers.

I need to be able to use my Installer badge inside the Features section Simple:Press forum plugin, PayPal and other cart plugins, etc. I don't want it to look like a Blog misused -- it is a sales site.

I need Twitter, Facebook, Google +1 and RSS feed icons.

Thanks everyone but I'm going with smartinfos submission once it is tweaked. It was a tough decision.

Could we please get more consistency between the fonts used? None feel like they've been chosen for a certain purpose or tone.

So far #2 has the best header by far. #8 has the best layout. #2 has the best color scheme.

#8 - I'd like to see the logo in the header to the right and the test for the header to the right of it. And the header be 1/3-1/2 the height.

#6 - it feels rather cramped, plus the header is too plain. The background makes it feel like a template, if you know what I mean.

#8 - that header is like 2-3x too big. Instead of a guy shooting, I'd like to see maybe a rack of firearms representing a large ocllection. Instead of gray and white for the box headers, how about Red white and blue? And maybe separate the Features and the Installer like in #7?

#7 & #6 - The Logo looks very out of place.

#7 - Lose the search box, move the Social Media buttons someplace else, and replace the stock photo image with a real header that incorporates the logo.

#2 - could you emulate something like #7 's layout with your styles?

I have drawn (poorly) a mockup:

    http://myifsgundb.com/ifs/mockup.png

the colors are only to show separation, NOT actual coloring -- I don't care what is colored what really.

I am willing to deviate from this, so don't be afraid to submit examples not like this.

This is really just to show what I mean by it looking like a static site and not a Blog.

Oh, and a footer at the bottom, please :)

#5 - can we make the main page wider? And a different header?

#5 and #3 - thew logo doesn't look right there at all. You do not need to worry about using the logo if you can come up with a decent banner to use in its place; please don't try to force the logo.

The site doesn't need to have guns all over the place - I'm not trying to appeal to 16 year old gamers, more like older outdoorsmen who collect firearms.

The templates need to have a place for screenshots on the front page, and NO POSTS for the main screen -- it is all static content.

#2 - also the second banner, the one below the menu, probably isn't needed, or would have to be thinner -- I'd also like to see more imagery showing the 'collecting' aspect over just "guns, guns, guns".

#2 and #3 - Neither will give me a place for the installer badge from my current site, nor screenshots.

The content shouldn't be posts -- posts are not used, only pages. This is for static content.

If you look at http://MyGunDB.com you'll see the Features section and the Installer badge -- those are needed for the middle (or the equivalent) and I can not change the shape or size of the installer badge.

I'm thinking of the features and installer badge in the middle, one or two paragraphs of text giving a short desc of the program and a "call to action" on each page saying to DL the trial or purchase now (the installer badge will be the way to DL it and paypal will be how they pay).

So all I want on the main page is a top with a banner, a middle with description, features and installer, and a bottom showing screenshots -- but i'm open to anything!
