Designers. We have made a decision to select Sylvian's designs (#34 -#40). I am announcing this early in order to avoid wasting anyone's time when we know what we want now. I'm keeping the project open so that she and I can finish the design project over the next two days. Thank you all for your excellent work. It was a difficult decision and I really appreciate the terrific designs that were submitted. I will recommend this site to my friends and please keep trying. Remember that there can only be one winner and several of you came very close. Thanks!

#24 and #25 also has some very nice design elements, especially the way he has emphasized the function of the other tools (ie Salary Planner) over the number (FocalPoint Two). This is also a very clean, well-laid out design, but it has sections (mission, etc) I didn't specify and no place for a customer testimonial.

Design #31 is coming the closest to having all the elements we're looking for. Good clean design, nice use of font, bullets and color. Nice use of logo and banner to give it color without too much. In some of the other designs, too much color overshadows what we're trying to say. I think the use of the icon colors works best when you just enlarge the icon as she has done and provided a consistent look. I would like to see more emphasis on key words and phrases, especially in the "One Tool...." section. See my latest upload word document for an example. Love what we're seeing! Several great designs!

Draft #17 - #19 has a nice, well-organized layout and seems to have gotten the location of the panels correct. Tone down the brightness of the color (or make it look more like a watermark) and more emphasis on the web and email address (not too much, just a little more). The sentences in all the brochures needs to have a little more emphasis and try to avoid looking like a lot of text. Try using larger first letters, emphasizing key words or phrases (I'll work on some examples and upload them) or breaking them up into bullets. Also avoid hyphenating words, especially titles, that move to the next line (such as One Tool for Mana-ging Employee Comp-ensation)

Drafts are getting better. Some general comments: Like the clean look and layout of #10 and #16, though it lacks testimonials, callouts or highlighting. See #15 for a good example of the 800 number and space for a testimonial. Also is using an old pie chart representation of the system. This has been replaced with the colored icons. Drafts 11-15 and 6-9 use color a bit too much, although I like the use of enough color to clearly see the difference from one brochure to the next. 11-15 has the right idea about making the statements and bullets cleanly visible, but probably a bit too much. Perhaps using soft tones and highlighting would look better. Like the use of the logo as watermark. Also the Simple to Use, etc statements are nice in 7-9, although not necessary except to fill up space in your design. I would also like to see the how it looks with the logo when used as a header to include "Focused on Results" as a tagline. See the Banner in my upload files as an example. Draft 7-9 should have the tools numbered clockwise Focalpoint One, two, three, four, five Finally, I can see that the full description of the FocalPoint Compensation System is too long. Please remove all the text that starts with "For more information...." If the number, web site and contact information is clear, this becomes unnecessary.

Regarding #1 and 2. There are lots of opportunities for color and callouts - this should be a full color brochure. I added our banner file that might give ideas for the top of page 1 instead of the logo alone on the bottom (should not have both on the same page). White space is good, but the white space here doesn't make any sense. Contact information should be separated out, especially the 800 number. The back page should have the full color representation of the entire suite, as shown in the Focalpoint Poster_copy_5616. I can shorten the description if needed, or we can move it from the back to the inside to make room for contact information. There is no customer testimonials, which is a good opportunity for a callout.

I have uploaded one Word document containing the text of the 1st brochure so that you don't have to re-write it and can just plug it into your design (with your own font choices). Over the next couple of days, I will do the same for the other brochures. Remember that the only difference between the brochures is the Application name/Icon and the text, so once one design is completed, its minor changes to the rest.
