Creative Brief

Reality Mechanic Company Logo

Reality Mechanic

No

Reality Mechanic is a company that specializes in software that changes the way our environment is used or viewed. In the past we have created Augmented Reality applications (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality) and Timelapse photography systems (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-lapse). Our main income right now is from a mobile application called Mockups2Android that allows users to quickly develop UX prototypes on the Android mobile platform.

The logo will server two purposes. Firstly it will be used on our website (www.realitymechanic.com) to replace the 'mockups2android' logo that is currently in place. Secondly, some part of the logo will be used as an icon for our applications. The icons we work with are typically 128x128 pixels.

We are open to any colors being used, don't feel constrained by basic palette you see on our website (www.realitymechanic.com). If the logo works we can change the website to fit. Remember part of the logo will also be used as an application icon on mobile devices, so subtle color changes may be lost.

not sure

We are big fans of negative space, you can see some great examples here (http://inspirationfeed.com/inspiration/40-creative-negative-space-logo-designs/). If this technique can be incorporated into the design somehow it would be great. We would also be interested in seeing character based logos that we could animate at a later date for use in screen-casts.

@realitymechanic I removed the boundaries around the logo as you asked. But the boundaries there are preferable if the logo will be on a colored background. I made for example sample logos on colorful background ( #39 ), so you can see the advantages of a white boundaries. Also I'm corrected colors on the logo, now it same as the first version. The first version has a simple gradient, the later versions I did with highlights and shadows.

@pitulastman Feels too mechanical and not hi-tech enough.

@Yourke We're looking into the use of a tag line, but can always add this later if we need to. Looks like we'll need it to balance things up Can you try #21 without the white boundary around the logo. Also the logo #21 looks like it has more white in it, particularly at the top and left than #14. Can you try #21 with the same levels as #14, so there is less light flare?

It would be good to see some more designs that do not use the initials 'RM'.

@realitymechanic Update to the previous layout. The orange color in place, logo bent down to the right degree. I made a wide ranging text, and also as an option, with company name on one line, and second line will write a slogan. (For example, "Virtual solutions for real life"). Waiting for your criticisms and comments.

@Yourke Can you also have a look at the position of the text. If you look at where the current website logo is (www.realitymechanic.com) it looks like we will be able to make better use of a design that is wider than the current implementation.

@vjennz Too casual. We need something that conveys hi-tech as much as the fun element.

@mayID Too corporate looking, we want a more casual feel, but not as casual as #20.

@Yourke Can you include another version of #17, but with the logo angle the same as in #14. Also can you produce a version of #17 using orange instead of green.

@realitymechanic I presenting the new version of my previous logo. Instead, the letters "RM" now "Koru" which symbolizes new life, growth and strength. I used green color for the logo - this harmonious with Kora symbol. Also now logo have more compact proportions and sign looks like "Play" button.

@Yourke Like the design. Can you look at something else in the centre of the logo instead of the 'RM'. Something abstract?

@Giovanni The logo doesn't really convey technical or modern. It feels more like a car/garage logo.

@dalma We need to keep the Android robot out of the logo. Although Mockups2Android is our current best seller, we do undertake work on other platforms, so the robot would be misleading. Not sure about the bird, although you have got the machine/organic mix is good.
