Startup Magazine Needs Identity

Everyone's Famous Magazine

the REAL people's magazine

Yes

Everyone's Famous is a local magazine that tells stories of local people. We give the everyday person a platform to share their story, or, a story of theirs that comes from their own experience.

We offer gripping content, and compliment it with wonderful design, so people can feel exceptional, and be proud to share the magazine with others.

The idea is to license or expand to other cities. Everyone's Famous Magazine Seattle will be the first region represented. Everyone's Famous Chicago, EF Paris, etc. Each region will have it's own flavor, representing the area's unique features

So the logo will be universal, and recognizable to every region, with designers adding their specific city's design to the main logo.

My personal motivation for doing the magazine, and the primary vision is to strengthen communities through local stories. If people learn more about each other, and find more commonalities amongst each other, they are more likely to relate to others, which could result in a closer knit neighborhood, or even bridge unlikely hoods together. Again, the general public doesn't have to know my 'end game', and it doesn't have to appear in the logo, but it may help the designer to understand the vision.

Another thing, I have not concluded whether this will be a for-profit or non-profit venture. Not sure if that has any bearing on the design, but perhaps something to keep in mind.

I had one done already, and you can see it here:

I asked the designers to put the penguin in there, and I chose a penguin because it's hard to tell if it's male or female, penguins look like they're wearing a tux, etc. I know, random.

Idea presented in Logo #369, #370, and #376 is closer to another submission #356.

Designers~ Eliminate the word "magazine" from your concepts. It's already used in the tagline, so no need to keep repeating it. Focus on Everyone's Famous, with an emphasis on "FAMOUS". Thank you all for great work.

Designers~ Go for the typographical look. Think about magazines like "Wired" or "US Weekly". The logo has to look good small like on a website, and emblazoned on the cover of a monthly magazine.

Designers~ I've been discussing your designs with other people, and they suggest that we leave out the "M" from the logo. When people look at magazines they see the name only, and very rarely do we see the word "magazine" since it's already implied. So, let's focus on "everyone's famous" for now, and probably with more emphasis on "famous", since that's the catchy part of the name.

Haha, of course! Apologies for the mistake - unsure why I did that. Every other version DOES contain Famous.

    danielwatson~ #142 -- It's Everyone's "FAMOUS" magazine, not favorite, although that's clever.

The million dollar question is: How does it look on the cover of a magazine? Does it impact people? Will people remember it? Will it tell people what "everyone's famous" is all about? Thanks for all your hard work designers. You're beautiful!

Ronseani~ I underestimated your concept, but when I apply it to a mock cover of a magazine, it actually looks great. Can't figure out what else to do with it, so I need to think some more. It has every element I have asked for. Thanks for listening.

Master~ #108 and #109 do not have "Everyone's Famous" anywhere. I don't want people to guess. Very clever on what you did with the "m".

FarrukhSheikh~ #118 -- the logo type is not clear enough, with the sideways "M". Also, no more penguin, at least that's what I think that is on the "e". Thanks for your submission.

Hi wakeupsmiling, No problem with that. It's already done. I also still have several other designs ready for uploading. But unfortunately, I always get an error msg whenever I try to upload. Still waiting for the admin's reply on how to fix this. Thanks!

grafikus~ Add an "M" to your design, if it's not too much trouble. Thanks.

danielwatson~ I really love #85, and if I was forced to pick, I'd choose that one, even though I haven't gotten everyone's feedback on the new ones yet. Designers~ I want to see how the city name would be added to the logo, or perhaps a silhouette of the city such as "seattle" or "chicago". Right now, I'd like to see how the logos look with the featured city integrated in them. Thanks to everyone again.

grafikus~ You may want to talk to admin about that. I like your work, and would love to see more. I showed yours to a few people and it didn't grab them right away, but I think it looks good.

Designers~ Focus on the "EF" and leave out the "M" on your next concepts, or tweak existing concepts, and take out the "M", or make it separate and out of the way. Veedesign~ Draft #65 -- good work, minimalistic, unique, modern, and I like how you made the "M" different from the "EF". Everyone's Famous is the main focus. I will be reviewing the concepts Monday and will submit my favorites to staff, and let you know who the winner is. Keep it simple and creative. Good work everyone.

seventhheaven~ If it was a music oriented magazine, I could then understand your concept. I don't think those will work. Thanks for showing me what it would look like on a cover. No one has done that.

The logo also has to look great on newspaper, posters, b-cards, web, and glossy magazine. I know it seems obvious, but some designs have me questioning whether I was able to communicate the concept clearly. Thanks again.

Designers~ I just added another $100 to the 'prize' money. Leave the penguin out of the logo. Focus on brand, "stickiness", with a worldwide appeal. This is a magazine for local, everyday people. We want them to feel special, unique when they are featured in the mag. Thanks everybody for your contributions.
