Bamboo Shoots is a full immersion environment, that offers an accelerated, activity-based curriculum in Mandarin Chinese for children 2 to 6 years old. We integrate language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, culture, computers, character education, and physical education in a joyful and loving environment. Through early exposure to Mandarin, we provide our students with a foundation for future learning and cultivate their long-term interest in the language, culture and traditions of China. We provide a warm consistent atmosphere where our students are encouraged to explore, make choices and gain independence as they develop a sense of self and a discovery of their unique place in the world in which we live. Our curriculum is based on combining knowledge in early childhood education, bilingual education, and knowledge of teaching Mandarin Chinese to children. This is an immersion environment where we use all of the senses to communicate meaning and maximize understanding and retention. Because students are learning their academic subjects in Mandarin Chinese, they will acquire fluency in in the language, learn to read and write Chinese characters, develop self-confidence, independence and become curious, lifelong learners.
