Creative Brief

Business Logo - Motus Architecture

Motus Architecture

Yes

Motus roughly translates from latin to english as - 'inspired movement of the soul'.

Architecture

Cutting-Edge
Unique/Creative
Clean/Simple
Modern
Abstract
Geometric

Original preference was for minimal colouring (2 colour), but would not limit designers to that if they come up with an inspired design with multiple colours. That said, all logo design needs to work well in grey scale as well as the colour.

Dear all designers. We have uplaoded a sketch of what we had in mind. Use this as a guide but please still be creative. Revised Design Brief 1. Logo must be an abstract 'Escher style' logo that represents 'movement' or 'morphing' or 'folding' like our Architecture. Often our designs evolve from a sharp rigid form to a more organic fluid form. We would like the logo to represent this. #43 & #182 are on the right track. 2. Logo position: to left of text. 3. Logo Colours: black, red, greys or deep blues 3. Text: #163 is our current favourite. We also like #172, #182 & #158 Thank you for your great efforts to date. We look forward to seeing your latest designs.

To everyone that participated we thankyou. Some great designs were produced. We will now discuss the options. At this point I'm not sure we have found an absolute standout but we like different elements of a number of your designs. There is a possibility that we will extend this by 3 days in order to finalise something that we are absolutely convinced by. A decision will be made on this in the next day or two. Thankyou once again.

Hello Designers. A few quick comment for your submission. 1. Don't like the blue / green colour. Please don't use this as a number of you have gone with it. Black, red, grey, deep blue are good. 2. Construction lines are good but in moderation. Gets way to messy with too many of them. 3. Key thoughts for design: - Movement - Inspired - Layering - Small elements to break free of contraint of geometry whether it is box, triangle, circle or other.

Thank you all for your submissions. After discussion within the practice we have narrowed down the key elements that need to be apparant in the winning design. 1. The M in Motus must have vertical sides to the M. We don't really like the M with angled sides. 2. The U in Motus needs to NOT have tick at the bottom (ie. it should be a simple curve with no straight bit). 3. The logo must have an element of abstraction. We will not consider those that are clearly reading as a big M. 4. Layering and / or depth to the graphic is not essential but would be an advantage to pick the winner. Best example of this is #6. #14 and #37 have also tried but the logo itself is way too curvy. This element could be a simple as integrating a few different line types/weights into the logo - or adding construction lines over or under to give it a little bit of three dimensionality. 5. None of the logos have yet to represent 'movement' in combination with the other key elements that we would like. We don't like lots of curves but there needs to be a small / subtle part of the logo that does integrate this in (not necessarily curves but some representation of movement - element breaking free of constraint). Hope this helps with finalising submissions. Thankyou all.

To all designers. They are looking really good. Thankyou for your efforts. General comment on what we like: 1. Font for MOTUS - #6,10&11 best. Clean, simple, hint of style & 'movement'. 2. Font for ARCHITECTURE - #10 is probably the closest to what we had in mind for scale (compared to MOTUS) and style. #2,6,11 not bad either. 3. Logos #2,3,6,9,11 all have good elements that resinate with this practice. - Slightly abstract - scale not too overbearing - subtle 3dimensionality / layering of elements. Designs adding a certain amount of layering / depth could push a few of the simpler logos from being good to great. It would be appreciated if some of you with the simple logos were to explore some minor amendments to your original logos with this in mind.

Thanks Bazinga. #4 and #5 logos are too prominent / dominent and obvious. We really think the logo needs to have a certain amount of abstraction. I like #6 much more but the logo is still a bit too prominent. We would like the logo to read as an equal to the name, not something that is far more dominent as an image. Please play with some more ideas on #6. It has some potential.

Thanks HK. #2 and #3 are quite good. Not sure about the fonts for either of them thou. We would like a squarer font but with a hint of curve that could represent the 'movement' part in our name. Also the word 'architecture' is reading a bit too prominently. #2 is a bit too angular for the logo and font. If you could play with this to get a better reference to 'movement' or freedom it could be better. Just to be clear, angles / squareness are good but we need some kind of reference to 'movement'. This could mean a portion of the logo incorporates some curved elements or maybe something else, but it does need to be clearly read.
