Creative Brief

Huntington's Disease Association

Charity providing care, advise, research funding and advocacy for Huntington's Disease in the UK

Health

http://hda.org.uk

The HDA provides care and research funding in England and Wales. We are redesigning the website and require PSD/PNG designs for the homepage to take the existing content and make it much easier to navigate and give it a more modern feel. Our developer will convert it to html and apply it to the whole site.

We'd like the new logo to be in the top left: http://hda.org.uk/download/hda/HDA-logo-pack.zip Then the strapline: "Hunting for a cure, with care" Then some top level tabs - at the moment these will probably be: * About HD * Get advice * Research * How you can help * Healthcare professionals * Donate These will pop up organised menus in the same way as livestrong.org does but also be clickable for overview page. The last donate tab should be highlighted. You should show what the tabs will look like when open as well as when not hovering over the navigation bar. There should be space for a search bar as well. Then a breadcrumb bar showing the location - that might not be shown on the homepage but will be everywhere else. There should then be a slider with some images highlighting specific pages or news stories. There might be some news headlines and events under that in a few tabs and some big buttons for the forum and a few other shortcuts - that section might not be used depending on how simple we want the homepage to end up. There could also be a place to enter an email address to sign up to a newsletter in that section. The footer should have some fairly prominent contact details and space for meta navigation (contact us, sitemap etc). Fonts: Use typekit fonts, possibly a humanist sans-serif Myriad Pro or CartoGothic (used in the logo I think) or just design in Helvetica.

Some more comments from the board - these will be final comments then they'll pick a winner next week. #43 - Maybe get rid of the call 0151 etc and move the "Hunting for a cure" back over to the right. Add a search bar. Add the address and phone number in a new footer just above the footer. Style up the breakcrumb bar a little more so it isn't just floating text. The first two boxes of intro text (Welcome and What is HD) are great but maybe replace the next two with a photo gallery slider or some news headline boxes (with images) - something more visual. Also show how multiple columns of links would be handled on the dropdown menu. #32 - Make the donate button a bit more obvious - maybe swap it with the search bar and add a flair behind it, like with the logo. They've decided they don't like the blue so much so maybe have a white background for the slider and use green, pink and gold for the buttons on the right. Maybe have two images under welcome to the HDA - one about the hda, one about hd to break it up a little. #45 - Like the menu, donate button looks a bit odd, try using another icon (maybe a piggy bank) and possibly make the whole button the red colour. Change service to About HD, change Projects to Fundraising events. Don't like the blue play buttons - get rid of them - try using the gold from the logo instead of the black for the top of the buttons.

Sorry comments on #27 and #19 were the wrong way round in the last comment - here are the correct comments: #3 can you try highlighting the donate button and maybe try some contact info in the top right to make it less empty. #19 can you show how the drop down menu would work when hovering over 'About HD' or similar (look at livestrong.com) #27 could you show a dropdown menu as well and put the contact info somewhere (email, phone, maybe address as well)

@boygraphics take width 980px, usually the you can't determine how long a site would be. It depends on the content so assume a safe length so that everything fits in it, say 2000 px . You can trim the extra length always after designing. I hope you got it. Good Day.
