Creative Brief

Logo for a tennis club

TC Brughia

No

Tennis club (TC) Brughia is one of the largest tennis clubs in Belgium, in terms of membership and infrastructure. The club is located in Bruges, a historical (medieval) city in the north of Belgium. With our logo, we which to express the branch in which we are active - tennis - and a certain warm but modern atmosphere. People of all ages can come and play tennis in our club. We offer a lot of activities and tournaments for children, adults and older people. We do not aim at social classes with a higher income: we certainly do not wish to brand ourselves as an elite club. Tennis should be affordable for and open to everyone.
The new logo will be used on our website, facebook page, letters, clothes and maybe cars.

Traditional, the colors that are often used for tennis logos are yellow, green, black and red. We don't have a preference, but wish to avoid an abundance of colors. The logo should be simple and effective.

not sure

We once had a logo designed (in attachment). The lines in this logo represent the abbreviation of our club's name: Tc B (TC Brughia). The new logo can be partially based on this logo. However, there are a few things that bug us in this logo:

- It's too fuzzy (the lines are not well defined).
- It's too open. The new logo should be more condensed.
- It's too abstract to understand it easily (most people don't recognize 'Tc b' in it).

So, if you would be so kind to keep this in mind. Besides that, you can try just about anything. 'TC Brughia' should me mentioned in the logo though. We also considered taking into account the fact that we are located in the historical city of Bruges (more specifically: close to the 'Kruispoort' gate which leads you to the historical city center). It's definitely not a requirement to include this historical aspect, it is just a thought.
The city of Ghent did this in their old logo, which was pretty neat (http://www.kotatgent.be/sites/default/files/images/page/main/logo_StadGent_cmyk_pad.jpg). But again, definitely not a requirement. Logos like the following are also sweet: http://www.koddaerttennis.be/sites/default/files/tcdk_neg.png

Please, give it a go! Thanks in advance!

Additional comments: #13: is also one of my favorites. Same remark as for #10, #11 and #12: the green should be a warm yellow gradient but other then that this is executed perfectly. #9: please try this excellent logo with a normal letter C and fit a yellow tennis ball into the letter C ? Otherwise this looks very slik and professional. #15, #16 and #17: a bit too eighties, too simple and too obvious.

I'd like to see #3 less business-like, it was a nice start!

Hello, Thanks again for your efforts thus far! In general (1): could someone do a remake of the old logo? It had a lot of potential, but it didn't came out :) In general (2): We will probably have the logo also printed on our training suits. There are dark blue today. If the logo fits with this background color, it's a plus ;) Comments on the logos: #9: not bad, but at first you read 'TOB' instead of 'TCB'. #10, #11, #12: #10 is a very nice logo, one of our favourites. Why not try a yellow gradient instead of green? The font for TC Brughia could be somewhat more exclusive then Century Gothic and more modern (tall and skinny- cfr IOS 7). #13: I like this one too, but it looks a bit like the 'Roland Garros' logo. Also, there's not enough contrast between the 'Kruispoort' and the yellow. #14: dear god no :s #15, #16, #17: the level of detail is better than #7 and #8 (racket doesn't bend, shiny line on the racket, ball on the 'I' of Brughia), but I liked the colors more in #8. Maybe you can try a darker green? #18: nice logo, but more for a jeans or something. It's too urban/underground ;) #19: this looks like a logo for a martial arts club :) #20: too old-fashioned. #21: Not bad at all. Try the words 'tennis' above and 'club' below the banner spelling out 'Brughia' Also the ball could be a warm yellow and the shield could use some drop shadow.

8 logos thus far, thanks for your effort! #1: I gave you feedback in a private message. It reminded me too much of the Pepsi logo, the colours are a bit old fashioned and the logo as such and the used font is a bit too simple. #2: I like the fact that you tried to incorporate the historical aspect of Bruges. However, it should be more abstract, now it's demanding too much attention. At first sight, it looks like a vampire castle. #3: this is a nice start to work from. But I find it too business-like. It doesn't give me that 'club' feeling. I like the fact that it is modern though. #4 & #5: also, a nice start. Although it looks a bit old-fashioned now, maybe it's because of the font? #6: No, sorry. I like the blue color, but it looks a bit messy. #7 & #8: This is also getting somewhere. I like the approach, but the colors not yet. Again, thank you!
