Creative Brief

Carver/Scott Master Gardeners Logo/Icon

MG and/or Carver/Scott Master Gardeners

No

We are Minnesota Master Gardeners for the counties of Carver and Scott. The Master Gardener program is under the University of Minnesota Extension umbrella and we teach about horticulture in the communities. The program is a volunteer program and the Master Gardeners must commit to certain volunteer hours and continuing education every year to maintain their certification. We like the idea of using a bumble bee as the icon. We do not want anything cartoonish.

ATTENTION DESIGNERS! Your designs are all wonderful! I have been asked to direct your designs specifically to the icon. Please do not include any text. I included ideas on the briefing page that I find interesting. One in particular is the green leaf hands holding sun and water. The green leaf hands can represent the volunteer work. Please do not copy this image! Please try with and without the bumble bee. Green leaf hands with a flower and the bumble bee maybe? Be creative. You can do this! Please just focus on a highly recognizable icon, no text. Thank you all for your hard work! It is greatly appreciated!

EpicDesign, thank you for your interpretation. #47 is just to complex and the water drop would be great for an irrigation logo. Just not what we are looking for.

Mlesse, #47 is supposed to show two hands joining together as in a community. The hands are conceived using water and plant with the bee completing the cycle. #48 follows along the same concept. A simple shape like a water drop will stick in the consumer's mind and can be seen and recognized from a distance. Would you like to see any specific alterations? I look forward to further discussion.

Vector, #39 and #40 are a little too much detail. Simple is better. Think green, think growing, think education, think volunteers, think community. Hope that helps.

bob, can you make the bee more friendly? It's a little ferocious.

Designers, you are doing great! Keep your ideas coming. I wanted to clarify the bumble bee piece. Our group suggested using the bumble bee as an icon. If we were advertising a garden tour, and we used signs or flags with the Carver/Scott MG bumble bee on it, then the public would know they are in the right place. Without the pollinators, there is no horticulture! It could be that we need two separate pieces here. A logo and an icon. Be creative! You are all wonderfully talented!

The Master Gardeners educate the public in all aspects of horticulture. Think green. Think growing. Try with and without the bumble bee if that is a hang up. Keep the designs coming! Love to see your ideas!

x3mart, Carver and Scott are the counties and have to carry the same weight. Does that make sense?

Sorry DDesign, I should have been more specific. I like the MG in #13 but can we change the font on the Carver-Scott Master Gardeners text. Thank you!
