Logo 4 jazz vocalist & band

Velvet Remedy

No

This logo will be used to market me (jazz vocalist) and my jazz band, Velvet Remedy. See current website: www.velvetremedy.com. I need the winner to deliver the logo to me in at least two file formats so they can be used for 1) high-resolution print, and 2) the web. Please also supply a file I can open with regular "business" software (I don't have design software) such as a pdf.

I want the main color to be red - not a bright red, but a rich velvet-color red with red/black undertones. See red-velvet cloth images in the links below for color range / variations / inspiration: 1) http://www.cloth4less.net/c4l/images/VelvetMainBottoms600x375.jpg 2) http://murraythemonster.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/1sillk.jpg 3) http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/345614178/solid_dyed_textile_velvet_fabric.jpg 4) http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/257923/257923,1308273688,1/stock-photo-background-of-red-velvet-fabric-79376188.jpg 5) http://static4.depositphotos.com/1000789/354/i/450/dep_3546616-Terracotta-velvet-fabric-background.jpg

In the band, this logo will be advertised on a variety of things, but the most important place will be the face of the drums. The larger drums have an end-to-end surface face diameter of 22 inches. The #1 goal is to produce the desired look & feel. The #2 goal is to find a balance between the look & feel and the need for the logo to be read at a distance from the stage (itty-bitty, too-cursive font won't work).

Final thought: while I've checked the "Abstract" box in the logo type above, I'm really not sure if I'm looking for an Abstract logo, or an Illustrative logo. I know I don't want just a cursive font, however. I've already got that on VelvetRemedy.com (by using Savoye font), and it isn't emotional / sophisticated enough for me.

Thank you very much for your help!!!

Something to try: velvet fabric (see links in my brief) has subtle and soft tones of black and red throughout. I'd love to see someone use a velvet fabric concept and create 1) a background with these types of tones on which "Velvet Remedy" text is placed, or 2) "Velvet Remedy" text that incorporates that velvet-fabric-tone look.

I'm finding that I like logos with BACKGROUND COLORS more that logos with just TEXT. A background color makes the logo POP and have more PRESENCE.

This look is too "vampire" for me, but I appreciate you submitting a design!
