Logo for company developing a smartphone application

We are selling an iPad application to help beginner musicians (primarily children) to practice their instrument at home in a fun and effective way.

Simple and elegant is fine, but so too is playful.

I have liked the symbols in these two logos:

Yohondo is a made up word, but sounds quite oriental to me. It evokes thoughts of martial arts in my mind. Maybe something a ninja would shout.

The symbol part of the logo will be used as as an application icon.

The text portion needs to work against a white background.

I wouldn't get too carried away trying to convert the idea of music into a logo. If you can come up with something that would be great, but I would equally be happy with a logo that was in one of these three styles and had nothing to do with music.

1. A character (maybe a ninja but could be anything)
2. Colours and shapes (needs have no specific meaning other than being pretty and simple)
3. Something inspired by the name yohondo (a stylised Y, or anything else)
