Victory Gardens Jams

Just say NO to corn syrup!

No

My company will make jam in Florida, using Florida-grown produce whenever possible, and a variety of flavorings (including, but not limited to, things like vanilla beans, spices, herbs, some alcohol and fancier liqueurs from time to time), to take them beyond the normal flavors you find on a supermarket shelf.

For example, current flavors I have are Joey's Swampberry (strawberry with a bit of key lime and Jamaican ginger beer to give it a kick), Triple Triple (a three berry mix with a bit of Triple Sec to make it interesting ;) ), and Port Royal Pineapple (pineapple with key lime, allspice, vanilla bean and a splash of rum).

We're taking the basic fruit flavors and kicking them up a notch or two....anyone can make strawberry and most can do a very good job at it. Ours will build on that base and sort of take someone on a little "minivacation" at breakfast. In other words, it's not just pineapple jam...one bite of your morning toast or a jam filled cookie, and you are thinking about that trip to Jamaica you always dreamed about taking. (If that makes any sense....I hope it does....)

The only ingredients we will never consider are things like corn syrup, artificial sweeteners and artificial colors. We're not making the cheapest jam out there, we're making the tastiest.

Why the name? Well.....number one, I like it and other people do, too. It pays homage to the WW1 - WW2 victory gardens, and the last time there were a lot of home canners. They didn't use fractionated hydrogenated stuff, or other things that escaped from the lab, and neither will we.

Number two... 10% of sales will go to congenital heart disease research. My daughter was born with a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. (She had open heart surgery at 3 months old, and is now doing everything any other little kid does. She's my miracle.) So many kids are born with heart defects, and no one really knows why. I would love to be able to find the reason why it happens, but I don't have the training to do that. I can raise money for the people who DO have the training, however.....and this is the way I'm going to do it. I'd love these jams and the money they raise to be part of the "victory" over these defects.

Would love red/white/blue in there somewhere, but am open to other combinations that have a Florida/tropical feel to them, like citrus colors, turquoise, etc.

not sure

Please, NO cherries, plums or apples in your designs if you come up with a fruit-based design. I love those fruits, but.....they don't grow in Florida or the tropics.

I absolutely love the graphic art of the late 30's and 40's, especially vintage travel posters of the era. Echo that somehow and tie it in with jam in a coherent way and I'll be very happy!

I like script or brush lettering but am not married to it. If you can use the tagline in the design, great! But please make sure the design works without it if necessary.
