Logo for web-based marketing software application
Markometer
Making Marketing Measurable
Yes
Markometer is a web-based software application that lets small to medium-sized companies track and measure the impact of all their marketing efforts in terms of the sales revenue it creates. It gives them the tools they need to acquire leads and manage them throughout the sales cycle until they turn into customers, tracking the value of each lead along the way. It is ideal for companies that have sales cycles that usually involve multiple steps and interactions with leads, namely business-to-business (B2B) companies. It simplifies the complicated marketing process and lets them know which marketing actions they are wasting money on and which are making them money. It's designed to be so simple that a user won't have to be a marketing expert to use it.

The name Markometer is a combination of the word marketing and any number of dashboard instruments on a vehicle - speedometer, odometer, tachometer, etc.
The logo will be used primarily in both the application and on the public marketing web site (Markometer.com is registered). The logo may be used in print as well or on a shirt, so something that translates to all mediums is good.
I'd like a logo that works well on light or dark backgrounds, or that can be adapted to either well with minor changes.
In terms of what I like with logos - I like very clean and simple - a clean icon with a font that may or may not have some type of treatment to it. My initial vision is an icon with the font next to it - but I'm open to ideas. Good white space, colors and shapes that are meaningful and convey a good visual message. If the icon has a glassy/glossy look to it that's okay, but I'd also like a version that could be used without it.
I would like an icon that can stand alone without the words, if we wanted to use it in certain sections of the application. It will have the font next to it most of the time though.
To get an idea of what kind of logos I like I put together a collection of a few good ones I found around the web:
