Bringing mathematics to life

No

Mathemateria.com will be a web site where you can work with calculus, equations and algebra, and possible other domains of mathematics in the future.

The main part is solving equations. You see the equation and can select a part of it. The system will show what you can do with that part of the equation. Only legal actions are shown, so you cannot do anything incorrect. But it is up to you to select actions that in the and actually solves the equation.

All exercises and solutions are solved. I you're stuck, you can see the next step in the saved solution.

There will be a module for teacher. They can make a set of exercises and send this to a group of students. The systems will let them monitor progress and in the end produce a full report.

The calm colors, like green and blue, are the ones matching the subject mathematics best, I think. But maybe there should be something else in addition? You decide.

#128 and #129 is nice, but the mathematical symbols in this is not the ones used in my app. Those are just the simple ones, +, -, * and / and x and the numbers. Also the greek letters are mostly used in physics. Integration is great, but that's advanced mathematics, and not something that will be in my app.

#99, #98, #95 and #33 are my favourites. These show what I like. I also like the cube in #28 and #12, but I think these logos are a little to simple. I want something a little more sophisticated/elaborate.

@mMedia, You can upload a bigger dimension as long as it is no more than 5mb and has a width/height ratio of 3.1 : 2.25 For example, if you make the PNG width 800px, so can have 581 in height. CMIIW

@Ation, About my previous comment, For example,.. Your draft #122 or #119, you should first observe how a mouse-cursor (pointer) is shaped (and why), it has subtleties here & there (its symmetrical values, degrees, depth, etc). So it won't look like a quick or unfinished artwork. Also, my recommendation is to choose the typeface for it very carefully, to make a shape from a font, even in a random/abstract-mode, be sensitive to the flowing properties of each letter/symbols. Each font has variable characters, it has an 'attitude', a 'white-space connection', if you know what I mean. Browse around for typography educations. Hmm.. well, Okay then, I'm postponing my submission, until tomorrow. I give you time to make 'em better and tweak 'em, before I submit my sample of a better execution for the same visuals. ~If it's good & decent, I'll canceled my unsubmitted mouse-cursor, really! :) Good luck!

#114, #113 and #112, I guess I prefer that the pointer is part of the image to the left.

#112, nice but not of the best so far. The pointer, I think, should point somewhere else.

#103 again, if the word is to be splitted, the split should be such that the first word is math - and not mathe

#103, interesting consept, but not quite there. % and = are not a representative subset of the relevant symbols. Either there must be a lot of symbols, or there must be some meaning in which symbols are selected. In general, what's important, is that the logo may be used also when the app is extended to do other things in math. It should not limit what the app could do. At the same time as it should, to some degree, be descriptive in regard to what the app will do from the start.

@TerjeKolderup There can be a different view on this blender: When you put ingredients into a blender and turn it on then you get final product. When you have variables in your equation and solve it you get solution. Bringing one solid result from chaos of numbers.

@TerjeKolderup, Hmmm.. yes, come to think of it, you're right! I'll see what I can do to make it more of a though choice between all my submissions :))

#87 shows a good understanding of the application! This is mathematics come to life. (And directed by the mouse pointer). But visually this is a bit more boring than #78

#86, I didn't fall for this. Also it doesn't feel as high quality as several of the others.

#85, I really like this, but when I think about it, it is not the right message with numbers and all in a blender. My app won't make a math smoothie. It is the other way around. You use my app to extract the simple mathematical truth (x=some number) from kaos (a complicated equation)

@TerjeKolderup, Thanks :). Yes the logo should capable of being place in many spaces and backgrounds. About the balance, I'll tweak it up a bit. I got one more visual idea, on the way to submit it... :)

Wow, great new suggestions! I like #78, #80 and #81 a lot! The keys, #77 and #79 are nice, but since the user will use the mouse to add numbers together, it is not so relevant. To merge 2x + 3x, the user will drag 2x and drop it on top of 3x... #81 is better than #80, I think. But the balance of it is not the best possible. Maybe the sphere should be closer to the m and a little further down? #78 is amazing! I like the colored mouse the best, but like it placed to the left. But maybe the best would be to use both versions (to the left and above), depending on where the logo is used.

#73, I think I prefer green as second-color (for .com and half-spheres). And a darker green.

#63, if there are four symbols I think they should be + - * /. How would this concept be with the image smaller and to the left of the text?

#58 the one under, is the best of these, I think. But I also like the font in #57. Some font in the middle would be nice.

#54 and #55, nice and creative, but I didn't fall for this #56, this I like! + and - are kind of the same thing in math. So are * and /. so the three buttons could be +, * and =, and an x could be on the mouse itself - or nothing. would like to see different versions of this!
