Non profit logo/name - Tennessee Higher Education Initiative

Tennessee Higher Education Initiative

in (or for) Corrections/Correctional Facilities

Yes

ok, having a real hard time with this. Just started a non-profit. NOT happy with the name but tried so many versions..gave up b/c I had to go ahead and get if filed SO is you can come up with some improvement on the name itself ("Alliance" over Initiative?)or through its logo design which encapsulates the purpose of the non-profit...go ahead. I could rename in practice.
THEI? is a non-profit dedicated to promoting, funding, and implementing higher education in prisons. However, the funds I raise will go towards funding onsite college education for BOTH prisoners AND correctional staff (eventually). This is why the naming has been so difficult. I came up with TAPE or Tenn. Alliance for Prison Education which I liked but those in corrections prob wouldn't. sort of like CorrectED: Higher Education in Prisons but thought it might be too gimicky. Correctional staff do not want to attend classes under something that would sound like "they" are prisoners too....they prefer "corrections" like from dept. of corrections (I do not like this though). so the name needed to be inclusive thus I gave up and went broad with THEI (above) and thought I could add "in Corrections" on "in Prisons" as a tagline? So I suppose I'm asking for name improvement help with logo or a logo that looks good enough with the existing name.
associated themes/words: needs to be a Tennessee thing; Higher education/college, higher learning, learning, knowledge, education, prison, corrections, Nashville, Middle Tennessee, or any words that deal with change, realistic, practical, culture of learning, post-secondary, education is the key to solving everything, anything else you can think of. . This will be used everywhere the non-profit name might show up - website, print, stationary, business card, etc.

tennessee colors? flag has 3 stars, red, white, BLUE (although I sort of think the flag looks racist?) needs to have broad appeal...nothing too feminine...no pastels...thinking blue, green, brown, orange, rust, grey, black, white, red (or shades of these)...fall colors nice (fall/leaf colors on trees beautiful) http://orders.logodesignguru.com/drafts/display/contest/260241/draft/1763441 but feel free to try some diff stuff

not sure

TN flag w/ colors..just fyi
http://www.netstate.com/states/symb/flags/tn_flag.htm..yes, TN thing but want it to be sophisticated and not redneck. could have a patriotic feel though

it's a non-profit that establishes college/higher education programs in
prisons. ex. I am director of the Nashville State Community College Prison
Program which means the Community College professors come to the prison
every week and teach their courses. The prisoners are working towards
earning a degree in prison

want to stay away from all of the traditional education symbols like "apple" "stick kids" etc.
