Yes

CF&F fosters a culture of sportsmanship, persistence and leadership built around a community of fencers.

We aim to do more than provide a fun sports activity, even though fencing is definitely that.
Our mission is to help educate through fencing and provide both Youth and Adults with the opportunity to discover a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Would like it to be clean, conservative, but will allow you to surprise me. Don't particularly care for some happy rainbow colors. Make sure that it would be easily to work with, when we'll put it on our t-shirts, golf shirts, etc. Think of how the colors will look on white, gray or possibly blue backgrounds.

For the designers who never seen fencing, this is a glimpse of what we do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=205DiZhDYGE

Great site for good quality images to build from:

http://fencingphotos.com/

Also, here is an example of the evolution of the logo of US Fencing Association. Option 1 is an original logo, which used an image of a fencer, executing a fleche, from a photograph. Option 2 have scored best in the survey, and became a new logo. I like how designers enhanced the definition of the body of the fencer.

Dear designers, we realize that our project was not a typical logo design contest, and our CF&F team wants to say that your best work is really appreciated! Our team of 3, is planning to make the final decision tonight. THANK YOU!

AbsoluteMudd, OK, now I understand :)There are several problems with this interpretation: based on your photo, you're taking an action out of context. The blade of attacker is pointing up, because it was parried, or blocked, by his opponent. Your logo does not display an opponent, which makes the fencer look like he's fighting a guy that's 3.5m tall. In addition, this image is over 50 years old! Since then, the rules have evolved in modern saber, and the crossover is no longer allowed. As you can see, the attacker's back foot is ahead of his front one. Now days, referee will penalize him with a yellow card for this action, and if he scores a touch, it will be taken away :)

AbsolutMudd, I'm not sure where you guys get this image (raindesign used it too), but the tip of the fencer's blade, should land on opponent, and unless his opponent is 3 meters tall, I don't see how it'll happen :)

Raiden, thanks for your latest drafts! We feel that color combinations are weak: it's not really red, or blue, or green, or black. It's something in between. In the image that you chose, we feel that there are way too many shadows on it for embroidery (logo will go on the patch).

Dear photozee, looking at your drafts, we're wondering if you bothered to actually read the design brief. Every single image, in your logos, is holding a WRONG weapon. In our brief, we stated: it has to be SABER, not foil or epee. Moreover, you're copying the images from the photos of the bouts, where you copy the image of one and not the other, which means that you're taking action out of context. Without putting extra work into it, fencer looks like he/she aiming at the floor, and not at her opponent! About your latest designs... what's with the gymnast?!!

DigitalDream, you're one of the very few that actually used a "pencil" to put a logo together. Thanks!

Would any of the designers go beyond copy-pasting a photo, adding various fonts fonts and colors, and calling it a logo? Not many of these logos are easy to work with. WAY too many details for embroidery. Manufacturers of our t-shirts and patches will not be very happy.

@ Stan4ik75 (Project Holder) Thanks for pointing that out, I also noticed that. Both have pretty much different. Will do some revisions on that. Regards. Raiden

Raiden, placing a saber in hand of the foil fencer, does not make it right. What you've done, is similar to picturing a boxer, doing a flying kick.

OK, to make myself clear... Multiple shades, will not work well on the patch. If you'd like, please submit a digital version, which could be more complex in terms of colors, and a patch version, which should be very straight forward - 2 or maximum 3 colors.

To all designers: 1. Please keep in mind, this logo will be sewn onto a patch, which will be attached to the arm of the fencing jacket. It will also be printed on the t-shirts. 2. We are a club that specializes in SABER fencing. Please make sure that you put a saber, into fencer's hand.

Our location, Columbus, does not have to have to have such prominent place in the body of the logo. Fencing & Fitness should have a lot more impact.

Looking at the drafts, we're wondering if designers take time to read the brief and go through the links that we included with it.
