4 Ways Social Entrepreneurs Can Support the Local Community

Entrepreneurs have a unique skill set that can benefit their local communities by investing in the people living there. Quality network building and genuine concern about the community can go a long way to build up support for social entrepreneurs and their new businesses.

By improving the quality of life, it will entice new workers, spread the word about your business to people as well as media outlets, and help you meet other social entrepreneurs in your area that are looking to do the same.

Michael H. Shuman, author of Going Local, says it best:

“Going local does not mean walling off the outside world. It means nurturing locally owned businesses which use local resources sustainably, employ local workers at decent wages and serve primarily local consumers. It means becoming more self-sufficient and less dependent on imports. Control moves from the boardrooms of distant corporations and back into the community where it belongs.”

If you build your business in the community by supporting them in causes they care about, it increases your profit and studies have shown the local area will have a stronger revenue growth compared to those in areas without supportive local entrepreneurs.
