Harrisonburg's Home Page

Yes

This is a community-information portal and a real estate website for Harrisonburg, VA, USA. The website will have a directory of local businesses, a comprehensive events calendar, and featured stories. The information posted on the site is meant to be useful on a daily basis to local community members, and constantly remind them of the real estate search and information available on the website. The tagline, "Harrisonburg's Home Page", is a play on words suggesting it has 'everything you need to know about Harrisonburg' and features real estate information.

Harrisonburg has a population of 50,000 and has a diverse population in terms of education, political opinion, and ethnicity. There are a few universities and hi-tech industries, and large manufacturing and farming operations. Harrisonburg is in the middle of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.

I'm open, but it should be broadly appealing.

not sure

The logo should be simple, but interesting. It will be used online, in social media, and in print (e.g. business cards).

While there is real estate information on the site, the logo does not need to have an overwhelming real estate look and feel. The winning design may or may not have a visual related to real estate. (Basically, while I may choose a logo that has an elegant roof line or something, I'm not looking for 100 entries with houses and roof lines - the winning design may not include it at all).

Note: While I type "LiveHB" with that capitalization, the designer may choose something different if it helps the design.

Because there will be many associated social media, having an icon is important (e.g. for the Facebook and Twitter profile pages). This could be a portion of the main logo, or a simpler/smaller version of the main logo. The winning design will have a way to be integrated into social media profile pages.

Variations of the winning logo may be requested after the tournament. There is the possibility of having sub-logos for the main LiveHB.com logo such as "LiveHB Homes" or "LiveHB Dining" which will feature content for those categories. This is down the road, not an urgent need, but might become one later.

Note: the website is up in draft form but the current design should not impact the design.

Draft #1 : Nice clean design. Looking for something a little bolder. The icon doesn't "pop" to me. Draft #2 : Nice balance, too much emphasis on the house for me. Draft #3 and #4 : I really like these. Moving the ".com" to the side lets the LiveHB stand out. I also like the subtle home in the H. An idea for the green "swoosh" in #4 : we have many mountains in the area and Massanutten Mountain is famous for its unique shape. Here is a picture - if the green swoosh could simply allude to this mountain, it would make sense locally (doesn't need to be perfect - the point to the rightside of the mountain is the main identifying feature). Link to picture of mountain: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stephen_little/6335741677/ Draft #5 : I like this, too. Would like to see the HB bolder. Keep them coming - great job!
