Sophisticated Homepage Graphic

No

The objective of this project is to create a graphic image that will be displayed on the homepage of a new website.

The image will include a prebuilt logo placed on a custom and sophisticated background.

I like charcoal or a dark blue, but I don't want the site to look to dark. Design is not my strength, so I am thinking it makes sense to go with the colours from the homepage and the original logo itself. Look at the sample homepage where the graphic will be added as well as the original logo and provide.

The following is a link that showcases logos which includes ones that have been incorporated into a background.

The following are actual examples of logos added into a background. I would be interested in seeing a subtle background OR a more pronounced background:

Adrianlozdan - I hope that you will be able to action my last piece of feedback (July 10) before the contest runs out as I would like to consider your submissions in my final review.

Nekobunny – You have executed my feedback to date perfectly and you nailed the background. My only feedback now is just a few minor adjustments that I would like to request. 1 – Can you ensure the logo is clear in all areas. The top of the crest looks a bit blurred. 2 – Can you make the logo image a bit bigger and ensure that it located exactly in the center both horizontally and vertically. 3 – The “MacWhirter” text looks a bit dull, is there any way that you can make it a bit sharper. Please look at #21 when making these changes as the font and crest clarity were very good. Thanks again for all of your hard work and updates. You have provided a top notch submission.

Windmill / CreativeSnap – Please read through my feedback to the other designers and make the necessary adjustments to your designs. Windmill – I like the font method that you used and your background colours. I am looking for something a bit more detailed. CreativeSnap – I like the background design, the colours and the glimmer. In some parts the colour is too dark where the background cannot be seen. Please retain the original colours of the crest logo.

Nekobunny – I really like how you transitioned the colours in the background. 1 – Can you please make the lions a bit more noticeable. I know I aksed you to reduce their visibility before, but I would like them to be just a tiny bit easier to see, specifically the ones on the bottom. 2 - The bottom half of the background is the right shade of blue, but the top is still a bit green. Can you change that to more of a blue, but still keep the transition effect that you came up with? 3 - The "M"s look good and a re the perfect size, but I think they got reveresed. Can you please flip them the other way so that they match the "M" in MacWhirter. Thanks again, Colin

Adrianlozdan - The updated font looks like it fits in as desired. Thank you also for adding the border effect to #21 and #22. However, I am looking for something a bit more noticeable. Do you have any techniques for making the border look more three dimensional? Thank you, Colin

Nekobunny – You almost nailed it exactly with #20 for what I was asking for. I know that you said it was a rough draft, so I wanted to let you know you are on the right track. 1 – Please adjust the shield as it looks like it is not quite centered 2 – The ribbon between the lions is a bit wavy and should be straighter forming a diamond pattern. The overall pattern should be more consistent and uniform from left to right. 3 – Colour on top looks a bit like teal green. Can you please change this to be closer to the blue in the top right hand section of the shield. 4 – Remove the “M” from the ribbon and move it to the center of the diamonds with a bigger font 5 – Can you make the “MacWhirter” look like it is integrated into the picture. I am okay if you want to use a different color other than white. Thanks for turning all of my comments around so quickly. I am really happy with how this is progressing.

Adrianlozdan - #17 was a really interesting and I am now conflicted between that one and #19 as my favorite that you have submitted. The ray of light looks really great. 1 - The updated font on #19 looks great, but it seems like it is not part of the image and was just placed on top. Can you make the “MacWhirter” look like it is integrated into the picture. I am okay If you want to use a different color other than white. Please do that for both #17 and #19 2 – Can you please try and add a subtle border to #17 so that the picture has a bit of depth (similar to #20, but your own design) . Please do that for both #17 and #19. Thanks again for all of your great work.

Adrianlozdan - #15 is my favorite of your submissions so far with #12 being in second place. 1 - The newer colours look great. 2 – Can you please improve the quality of the Logo image as was done in #11. Currently it looks a bit washed out 3 - Please replace the font for MacWhirter with the font that is used on this link http://orders.logodesignguru.com/drafts/display/contest/19778/draft/193639 4 – I really like how you used the detail on the side of the shield in the background and how you incorporated multiple colours. However, I think the background is still a bit distracting and takes away from the main logo. Can you tone down the background colours a bit more so it looks more like a watermark? 5 – Can you please do 1 & 2 to the #12 submission? Thank you and keep up the good work.

Nekobunny - #11 was very interesting and is my favourite out of the submissions you have provided so far. That is what I based my comments on below. 1 - I like the border around the outside and please maintain the gradient from top to bottom. 2 - Make the background slightly bluer like the header. 3 - Please replace the font for MacWhirter with the font that is used on this link http://orders.logodesignguru.com/drafts/display/contest/19778/draft/193639 4 – There are currently 19 columns (not including the edges) that alternate between the lion and the other smaller design. Can we change the pattern to be 3 lions in one column and 2 lions in the second column and then repeat. The lions should be diagonal from one another from one column to the next, but each column type (i.e. 3 lions) should align horizontally. There would be 15 columns altogether, 8 columns with 3 lions and 7 columns with 2 lions. Please refer to the link to give you an idea of how the pattern would look (this is much smaller scale, but gives you an idea). http://images.twitrounds.com/pattern-backgrounds/gucci.jpg 5 – Add a narrow ribbon (similar to the one under the shield) connecting the lions diagonally that has a gradient that gets lighter as it gets closer to the lion image. Again, please refer to link above for example of how logo is linked horizontally to surrounding logos. 6 - There should be an “M” in-between each Lion that is the same colour as the lion. Please use the font identified above. 7 - The lions colour from #10 should be used but slightly blended more into the background. I realize this is a lot of detail, but I really think this could be cool. Please let me know if any of my comments are not clear. Thank you for your effort so far.

Nekobunny -#4 Is good and the right kind of idea, but the pattern is too floral for me. Can you come up with a more masculine pattern? I also like the shading from top to bottom. 1 - Can you please make the image look the same as #3 keeping the detail on the side of the shield. 2 - Please make the font of the "MacWhirter" match the font on the header (as #3 has done). Thank you,

Adrianlozdan - #3 is the right idea. 1 - The ratio of logo to background detail in #2 was great, however in the newest version, the background is a bit overpowering. Can you tone down the background so that the detail is not so pronounced, more like a watermark. 2 - Can you also try to use a blue that is a bit closer to the website and maybe a version that is charcoal so I can compare the two. Thank you,

All Desigers - My apologies if the brief was not clear. Please create an image that will replace the current main photo of the house near the top of the webpage. I noticed that I asked for a graphic, but did not specify in the initial section that it was to go in the spot where the current house is (I only mentioned this in the details of the attachment). Thank you,

Adrianlozdan - #2 I really like the way you built the background and the colors seem to work as well. However, the request was to create an image for the main picture (where the house currently is), not for the background of the header and footer. Can you take the same idea and create an image for the main picture?
