Brand logo for online ethnic goods store - The Nomadic Trader

The Nomadic Trader

No

We need a logo for our new online store called The Nomadic Trader.

We sell Fair Trade eco-friendly jute bags made from recycled Indian and Nepalese rice sacks in unique and colourful ethnic designs.
(see lots of photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/58388507@N04/)

The bags are not only eco-friendly, but also trendy and appeal to a wide range of people - especially students, young people, and people who want to be stylish and a bit different . The bags sell for 15 pounds.

Our online store is not live yet but will be www.thenomadictrader.com and in the short term will sell only these bags.

We would prefer bright colours Take a look at the flickr link and you will see that the bags include a lot of reds, greens, oranges etc. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/58388507@N04/ )

not sure

Perhaps an ethnic look as the bags come from India and Nepal and feature images and text from the Subcontinent.

Some ideas as a start:
1) an ethic font, perhaps a stylised devanagari (Hindi) script used on the bags
2) a stamp font (these bags feature colourful vegetable dyes stamped on rice sacks so the stamp is not always 100% clear or uniform - but we like that, so a stamp font which looks like the font on the bags would be very complimentary)

(Note – although many of the bags feature a lot of Hindu images we would prefer not to align too heavily with any religion for our logo)

We also like the idea of an Indian rickshaw (yellow and black) – so maybe that could inspire something related to The Nomadic Trader (just a starting idea - not compulsory)

Have a look at photos of the bags for lots of different ideas for fonts and art work (http://www.flickr.com/photos/58388507@N04/ )

Note: We may be selling more than just these jute bags in the future (perhaps similar or complementary products for the same market) so we need a logo which isn’t too reliant on these specific bags. eg it doesn’t have to have any pictures of bags in the design, and shouldn’t mention ‘bags’. ‘The Nomadic Trader’ should be the only text

Thanks for the designs - we really like draft #1 by sangomma. Are you able to submit a few more options on the same theme? - perhaps replacing the cow and cart with something else with an Indian feel, maybe even a rickshaw if you have one? Or camel and cart, or elephant and cart...etc... We really like the red but would also be happy to see options or orange, blue, green etc. Thanks very much. We welcome all other new designs.

Thanks for the designs - can designers take note that our products come from the sub-continent (India and Nepal) and are not related to American Indian or Chinese type nomads. The brief also states the logo should NOT feature any images of bags. Thank you
