#WinningWednesday: A Walk on the Wild Site

Picture this: You are on a fast subway train, and trying to take a peak outside the window. Images are flying past you at great speed; trying to grasp a still one and making out what it is, is impossible. The impulse to stick your hand out and grasp is overwhelming.
For Alocelja, that’s what’s happened when he stepped into the crowdsourcing graphic design world into the wild site. It was exciting, exhilarating, and he so wanted to be a part of it. And he did.
“Cloud designing”, what he calls ZillionDesigns crowdsourcing platform, is an exciting place to be at, competing against a world of designers with varying calibers and skills. In comparison, a designing job is boring, not to mention static. But leaving this comfort zone, and taking on the challenge of competing with other designers is daunting yet a lesson worth learning. But he has made a decision and he will stick with it.
Once on board, the thrill of competition fuels his artistic side and after 10 contest winnings, fate decides for him – he becomes a freelance designer through and through.
For all those who don’t know Alocelja, he goes by the pseudo name of “Alocelja”. He’s from the Philippines. He’s an artist, an iconic and illustrative logo designer, who finds inspirations in the most unlikely places – his family. They are his masterpiece, and we can see why.
But when it comes to graphic design, there are quite a few favorites that Alocelja or anyone else will find hard to single out. Will you vote for The Reef? Dr. Quest’s Wellness or the London Saxaphone School design?
With the title of a super designer, and a winning cover design for an educational book to be published in Australia to his credit, Alocelja considers it his great “luck” to have jumped off the cliff and landed on ZillionDesigns. But does this talented designer let success go to his head? Not likely. He’s down to earth and appreciates genuine recognition.
To him, every designer has weaknesses and strengths. It’s his/her own prerogative to excel in unique design, style or trademark to overcome the weaknesses. The secret to being successful in this profession is to persevere; don’t distinguish between big or small wins. Treat each project as an experience and an opportunity to transform yourself and the real ugly world into a beautiful one.
The key is “Design with your heart.”
Love the last paragraph Janil and Alocelja!
Thank you! 🙂
