To be, or not to be; that is the question. – Shakespeare

Ever felt lost and confused at 18? Sure, we all did. How could we forget those raging hormones, the feel of invincibility, and being the power that reigned our little worlds? At 18, Sheraz Khan (aka Karen – a pseudo based on his teenage crush) had all the makings of rebellious teenager, all ready to conquer the world. The only problem was – which world to conquer?!

His Mother’s World

Since his childhood, he’d seen his struggling single mother try to make ends meet and put him to school so that he could get a decent education. He couldn’t grow up fast enough to help her. During his school years, these noble resolutions were broken every day when he’d be tempted by buddies who cajoled him to skip classes, and go have an aromatic plate of “biryani” rice or a burger.

And after each episode, his mother would scream at him, with a broom in her hand, “Do you want to become a sweeper when you grow up?!” Of course not, mom. Curse his weakness for food and curse his friends for knowing it! Conquer this world? Not likely.

The Grown Ups World

Fast forward, Sheraz is now out of school and attending college. He’s 18 but haven’t a clue what to do with his life except that he has to attend classes. “Sheraz pay attention!” shouted his teacher. “Hey buddy, he’s coming with very dangerous intentions, snap out of it!” warns his classmates. Oh but he couldn’t stop daydreaming. He’s getting ideas for these gorgeous characters that he’s itching to sketch and make them come alive. Maybe he can draw them on his notebook, and see how they look on paper.
“What’s this? Notes in my class? Get out of the class. You are suspended for 2 weeks!” Screams his teacher. Oh no, not again! Oh why, oh why’d he put it on paper!
Is he ever going to pass college? Doesn’t seem like it.

The Logo Design World

Sheraz is finally out of college. Finally, now he can do whatever he wants and conquer the world, again! “Why don’t you become a doctor?” advised his mother. “Become a banker… very lucrative.” Advised his friends. “Why don’t you use your creativity and go into graphic design?” And that was the wisest advice he’s ever got. He enrolled into a design school, learned the basics and experimented some more on his own. And the more he experimented, the more he discovered; the more he discovered, the more he felt confident with his design.
It was not until someone recommended ZillionDesigns.com that he discovered the pure joy of designing and earning at the same time. This was his first winning logo design, a product of pure love for color, symbolism and iconic design. Not bad, don’t you think?

From this first winning design, Sheraz has never looked back. Today, he participates in contests on a regular basis, and works for in-house projects at ZillionDesigns.com too. While he does illustration, stationery, and website design too, his primary love remains logo designs, and from the following portfolio, we can see why.

His motto is “Keep it simple and clean. Simplicity is the key towards good design.” This he advises other designers to follow too. When designing a logo, or anything, look it through the lens of the beholder. The fact that Sheraz is also a photographer makes it even more pertinent why he believes in this design technique. According to him, just like a picture is worth a thousand words, a logo design should tell its own story too. If your logo doesn’t do that, then it’s not complete.

Has this guy conquered the logo design world? You tell.

An internal employee who also competes? That seems very unethical.

    1. Robert Pugh says:

Not actually, as each contest holder judges their contests, not ZillionDesigns.com

Spot on Robert. The clients judge design contest themselves. We provide a platform where any talented designer can participate in contests.

Yes and your support department tries their best to divert client’s mind to your designs. Because most of the times they sit on the same floor. Now i understand why there are unnecessary trademark issues sometime and why some of your designers get no trade mark issues after a week.

Zoe, you are telling me a new thing! 🙂 Sheraz is the ONLY designer in-house and how he manages to convince Support to remove other designers is beyond me. He must be telepathic or he must have a very very vast network.
