Thanks again, to all the designers. You have been great. The contest is winding down now, and I may not have the time to make direct contact with you, in regards to your designs. I will do so, only if I feel your design has a chance of winning. Just look at the star ratings to give you a better idea of where you are at. I may extend the project another day or two, to give you a chance of getting your designs finished and submitted. Once again, I really do appreciate all your efforts on behalf of the GuitarHistory.com Project. e r n i e

Well folks, the contest is almost over. I want to thank you all for all your creative designs. There are several designs that we could select from, but we haven't seen that one design that stands out from the rest. Everyone still has a chance, so try and get some more designs in, if you can. Try different concepts, think outside the box, and you could win the $400. Thanks again, .... e r n i e

There are two elements that we know may work for the final design: 1. A "line drawing" or symbolized, universal, non-clipart guitar image that is either a full body image (guitar body, neck and headstock) or with the lower part of the body woven into the frame around (or directly into) the domain name of the site. This must include enough of each part of a guitar so that it is recognizable as a guitar - one of these was very good but had only one side of the headstock visible. If possible, this image can include a visual element (shape, font, etc.) that helps to illustrate the "history" concept of the site. We can't stress enough that these guitar images should not look like clip art...we have already seen many designs that we liked, but the guitar portion of the design looked too much like clip art. 2. A silhouette or "line drawing" or symbolized, universal, non-clipart image of a guitar player, playing the guitar, possibly behind the letters of the domain name. One idea that we have seen that might work with the right execution is the following: 3-4 guitar images (like the one described above) representing the evolution of the instrument, not just different modern styles. There are two other elements that we have not seen tried and would like to see: 1. A guitar image drawn like a statue, displayed on top of an ancient (Greek or Roman style) marble column in the same way that statues or busts are sometimes displayed in a museum. 2. A guitar image that has been carved into (or out of) a piece of stone or marble. This could be done as if it were a finished work of art like a plaque (rectangular with Roman or Greek Style molding around the edges) or a more raw, unfinished work. Of course, we will be happy to consider any creative ideas you may have that communicates both our "guitar" and "history" concepts in an immediate and visual way to a broad, multi-cultural audience in a way that will reproduce well in any size or color.

I spoke with my partner, and after discussion, we agreed that both elements, historical, and modern aspects would probably work best in this project. I had an idea. Imagine a small area of fallen Greek or Roman columns. The columns would be in different(random)positions. Some would be whole, some would be broken in different ways. i.e. tops off, broken in the middle, etc. Maybe four guitars, (2 electrics, one acoustic, one electric bass, are standing in vertical positions within the debris field. Underneath, would be, "GuitarHistory.com" You could do it in black and white, or color, using different thickness lines. I don't know if anyone would want to tackle this, but I thought i'd throw it out there..... e r n i e

I want to thank everyone working on this project for all your efforts. I really wish you all could win. Actually, you all have already won, because your doing what you love, and with each project or design, you are gaining valuable experience, that will greatly increase future success. In my original brief I requested the design to include both historical and modern elements. This still stands, but some designers have sent in designs that do not follow this request. At this point, I will leave it up to you, the designers, to create your "vision" of the GuitarHistory.com logo. If the logo works, it works. I want something that stands out from the crowd. Something a little edgy would be good. A balance between the illustration, and the words, is important to me. I don't want one overpowering the other. I want customers to remember them both. Readability is essential to the design. Please don't put the .com part in a vertical position, unless it is large enough.(readability) As you can see, I have upped the prize to $400, because I am serious about the quality of this logo. It will be seen by millions of people throughout the world, and I want them to be impressed, by your work, and the site itself. I will also consider placing a free link to the winning designers site.(if you wish) I will let them know that you designed this awesome logo. Sincerely, .... e r n i e

Attention Designers, You may upload multiple variations of one logo in one draft for the presentation purpose. However, winner of the contest will have to send final files with each version separated hence, one file should only have one color version of the finalized logo. We would appreciate your cooperation in this regards. Thanks!
