The World Cup news that made the headlines this year was about the 2014 official emblem, and that it was essentially a crowdsourced design with 125 submissions from 25 Brazilian-based agencies! The 2014 FIFA is a month-long international football tournament with teams from 32 countries squaring off in matches played in 12 venues around Brazil. By running a contest, FIFA had more than enough entries to choose from in order to find the right logo for the Brazil World Cup.

FIFA owes its success to designers!

I bet you any fan can sprout sport fact after sport fact about the previous World Cups, but few know about the hundreds of hard-working designers that worked tirelessly to create the FIFA brand over the decades.

These designers made FIFA into what it is today, and it’s up to us to remember their legacy too.
