Yes

This logo is for an unfinished blogging and multimedia site.

I want the primary image of the logo to be a barn. The look I want to go for is like an ink illustration you'd see in someone's sketchpad. I'm picturing a weather vane on the barn in the mental image I have, but a weather vane isn't a requirement --- I'll leave the inclusion up to the designer.

I'd like to see the logo contained within a border, one that makes the logo appear as if it's a decal (that you'd stick on your car or guitar case or something --- if that makes any sense).

I'm imagining a black and white ink illustration, but the designer can add other colors. I'm open to different looks.

Thanks to everyone for their design submissions. I know this was probably difficult to put together the design and make changes because it was hard to envision what I was envisioning at times. I hope my comments were clear and helpful, and I wish everyone luck in the future.

myhands, thanks for the new design submissions. I like the fonts you used a bit better in these drafts. The URL in #41 is missing an "S" at the end of "punk" and otherwise would be my favorite of the two drafts. The font in #42 has too much of a comic book feel for me. It looks good, but doesn't quite have the feel that I'm going for. I've wanted a gloomy, punky look, and the font is a little too upbeat, if that makes any sense...LOL

burukdesign, thank you for submitting your drafts. These are definitely a different look than anything I've seen so far on the project. One thing I would correct is the URL --- it's .org and not .com I definitely would like to see a barn in the design, so draft #39 is not what I'm looking for. You added a barn in #40, but the design feels a bit more fanciful than I was going for. I would like a more sharp and serious design.

MarvelousThings, I like what you did with draft #30, but I think I like the "rougher" look of #26 better. pepin, thanks for the new drafts. Yeah, I like the way #31 looks. myhands, these are some nice looking drafts. I appreciate you adding a silo to the design --- it came out nicely. I think the addition of the rooster to the end of the URL works well. I'm not sure how I feel about the new font you used. I don't hate it, but I'm lukewarm to it.

MarvelousThings, thanks for colorizing draft #26. I think I like that better. It definitely feels more lively. I can't think of any more feedback at this time, but will let you know if I do. pepin, I like these new drafts. I really like the colors of the barn and sky in #29, but prefer the font and coloration of the URL banner in #27 & #28 --- if you get the chance, could you combine the two looks? Thanks.

Those new drafts look nice. Draft #25 is probably my favorite. I'm trying to think of ways to tweak the design to get the most out of it now that the general elements look pretty good. At this point, it feels like the barn itself needs some pop --- maybe try colorizing it?

MarvelousThings, those are some nice looking new drafts. I must say I prefer #22 of those two new designs. One comment I have is that I'd like to see either the clouds fit within the border or have the border wrap around the clouds. Thanks for submitting new drafts.

MarvelousThings, thanks for making those changes to the logo. I think I like the appearance of #20 & #21 better. Not sure exactly which look I prefer.

MarvelousThings, I like the way you filled out the design a bit in draft #19. I'm thinking that I'd like to see a much smaller URL. I'd like to see the text integrated with the image in a tighter-looking logo. Thanks for making the changes in the new draft.

mimasivri, all of the elements are complimenting each other well in #18. Overall the logo is really clean and sharp looking. I like the border style and coloration.

pepin, I prefer draft #8 over #7 --- I prefer the black background and the font used. I'm just not liking the stencil-type fonts for this design. I think it might be because it looks too blocky. myhands, thanks for simplifying the image in #9. I like the general look, but I'd still like to see a moon/clouds, and a silo. I'm convinced that a barn by itself isn't enough to convey the idea of a farm. MarvelousThings, thanks for the multiple drafts, playing with different looks. I'm fine with the general direction, but want to see the design fleshed out a bit more. I'd like to see elements that make me think "gloomy" or "foreboding" or "punk rock" (or a combination of these things). mimasivri, really like #11. I'm thinking #11 with a blue roof on the barn (I like the blue you used in the drafts). I like the general look of the moon and clouds, but I need to think about it for a bit. Maybe it's too detailed? It might be that it doesn't match the style of the barn. I don't know --- I'll think about it.

Catty, I like the general look of draft #6, but I'm not crazy about the splattering effect. I know that I said I wanted a "punk rock" look, and you did a nice job of that. I just want to find a way to bring out that look, but also keep it clean and sharp. I understand that my demands are kind of contradictory, but I just want to see if it's possible to merge the two looks as much as possible.

niklas, I like what you've done in draft #5. The coloration does a nice job with the mood, and you gave the logo a decal look. There's something bothering me that I can't pinpoint --- maybe it's the look of the clouds. I'm not entirely sure, but I'll get back to you with comments.

myhands, thanks for adding the clouds in draft #4. I'm almost thinking that with the trees AND the clouds, the image is becoming too busy. Ultimately, each element in the design can have a good amount of detail, but I'm a fan of keeping the design simple in terms of the amount of elements. Maybe limiting the design to barn, clouds, and text is the way to go (no trees, no grass). I've been playing with the idea of adding a silo to emphasize that it's a farm and not just some old building in the image. Maybe the lack of coloration in the design is keeping it from really stretching out mood-wise. The image still seems too cheerful. I'm not sure how to express it visually, but gloomy and foreboding is what I'm going for. Maybe a crescent moon amongst the clouds?

SoulTerror, in your draft #3, I like your weather vane, but I would like the primary image to be a barn. The inclusion of a weather vane is optional, but I want to stick to the elements in the design brief and the comments I listed below.

yudinata, I like several elements of draft #2. I like how the border of the logo looks, but when I look at it, I think "cut-out". I want to look at the logo and think "decal" or "sticker". I uploaded a new image to give a rough idea of what I mean by "decal". I'd also like to see the website url in the logo done with punk-style lettering. If you want some ideas for what that might look like, check out some of my previous comments on google image searches. The perspective/angle of the barn seems very extreme to me. I'm not saying that I dislike it, but I just wanted to make note of that fact --- I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I don't know how difficult it is to make major changes to the logo design when it's an illustration style. If it is very time consuming, we could always try something like a Xerox machine look, kind of like you'd see for a handbill to a punk rock show --- just do a google image search for "punk rock handbill" This first draft has a lot of elements I like.

I like the general idea so far on draft #1. Maybe try the design with a few dark clouds? I want to convey a gloomy feeling. I uploaded just an example of a decal to explain what I'm thinking about. I want the logo to look like a sticker, so maybe a border that loosely conforms to the contours of the design, if that makes any sense.

Ok, I uploaded an example of an illustration style that I like, but of course it doesn't have to be this style --- it's just a reference. Here is a link to a photo of a barn that I think gives a good general idea of what I'm looking for. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jckay/946317886/ I think that barn image is a good reference --- I was looking for a barn that seemed a bit weathered Also, I might suggest a google image search for "punk rock handbill" --- this is another good inspiration for the feel of the logo Please message me if you have more questions.

In the design brief, I stated that I want people to think "punk" when they saw the logo, but perhaps it would be more accurate to say "punk rock". To that end, it might be useful to do a google image search for "punk rock" to get inspiration for the design. I'll try to upload some images that give a better idea of the vision I have, but I haven't found one yet.
