Negative space

Negative space is the space around the subject image. When used properly, this space forms an abstract image around the main image and gives it an artistic touch. The design then carries two images; the actual image and the abstract image, which is formed by the negative space. The image is mostly in black and white but this is not always true. The use of color varies from artist to artist.
