Accounting for Mission Logo

Accounting for Mission

No

Our company helps non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and small business get a handle on their financial information. Our typical customer is passionate about the mission of their organization (to do some good in the world!) but is often not that savvy about accounting and business practices. They need assistance with their accounting software (QuickBooks/Peachtree), donor management software (GiftWorks) and evaluation programs (Xcel). We do not do their book-keeping for them – we provide workshops to teach them the underlying concepts/best practices and then we provide consulting services to help them customize their software programs and create procedures that they can understand and use.

We’ve looked at other similar businesses and almost everyone just uses their name so we could not find good examples to point to – you can be the first to come up with something great!
Some concepts for you to consider:
All nonprofits have TWO BOTTOM LINES – they exist to fulfill some mission to improve society AND they have to make some profit (in spite of their name) if they are to stay in business.
Accounting software and money/profit are generally represented by a DOLLAR $ SIGN.
Mission is typically represented with a HEART. Successful missions (ones that meet the public need and are easy to fund) are often represented by a STAR.

Draft #119 and #122 by MayDay are the same as #43 by kotakdesign, therefore have been taken down.

MhATA & Kotakdesign: Thank you both for submitting your designs. You were clearly following what we were responding to and we appreciate your efforts on our behalf. Unfortunately I think Logoziner got there first and his design still best reflects how we think about our business.

#130 Logoziner. I like the top design in 130. Would you mind separating it out so I can see it by itself like in #94. Also can you try it with a slightly more maroon red? Thank you!

#94 Logoziner: The image is great! Can we play with the wording. I'm attracted to right justified text for some reason (see #125). I like the word "for" being smaller and you have the colors right -- mission should stay in red. I like "for" being offset near the heart too -- but would like to see some different treatment of the position/sizing of Accounting and Mission. We are so close!

Dear Mayday, your draft 119 & 122 I think the concept is the same with my draft before the draft 42, 43, 117, 118 ?

#14: Would you please make another version of this with a different shade of green - a darker version, more of a forest green, or an accounting eyeshade green.

#42 #43: very nice. We're wondering how this will look small, as on a business card. We'll have to try that out.

#44 #45: We like the horizontal version of this better. Can you try a version without the grey star - maybe make the person and star grey, with the heart, all on a white background. The star feels a little overwhelming.

#41: Hi, fixdesign! Can you try this without the "A" in the center? Somehow that looks like a rocket ship to us! :-) Maybe try it with a green star in the center.

#40: In our work, we're trying to move from heart to star. Do you think you can make another version of this with the star inside of the heart?

#38 #39: very nice work. It would be nice to see a heart or star in these, but we like the concept.

Draft #33 Kotakdesign: The heart/star logo is very clever. Any chance I can see it in a Maroon/reddish color -- I'm curious if it will make the heart/petals mor distinct. Thank you!

Design #35. Logoziner -- I really like it! Have you tried the design with a slightly larger star and with the word "Mission" a little larger? Also have you tried changing the color of the star? I'm concerned that when it is made small, on something like a business card, it might fade away. Thanks!

Draft#10 Fajar I like the combined outline look of the heart and star! Any chance you can rotate the image so that the star tilts up -- part of my work is getting clients to convert their "heart" projects into "star" projects by paying attention to their finances.

Drafts #6, #7 #8 -- I like your images and typeface but don't care for the extra symbols in the text. I get what you were trying to do and it's clever but it doesn't quite work for me. Can I see them with straight text? Thanks!

Draft #5. You did a nice job of integrating all three design symbols! Would it be possible to see the logo on a white background and change the typeface to normal (not italic) Thanks!

A strong start! Thank you! I know I suggested the $ sign in my design brief but I don't care for it now that I see it. In Draft #2 can you remove the $$ and make them plain SS -- I like the blue and green colors -- I think green suggests money in the US and works to replace the $$. Can you try another green?
